| Ariens 120-Volt Electric Starter Kit Review |
| By Russ Port (Boulder, CO) |
I used one of these on my MTD for 4 years, and I am so pleased it. Never tempt me to go without one again.
I like the idea on a cold morning or night of being able to simply plug my 120 volt extension cord into this receptacle and simply prime and push the red button. It starts even on the coldest days.
I installed it in a short, 20-minute procedure. Highly recommend for anyone who lives in cold country.
Well worth the money spent. Go for it. |

| Ariens 120-Volt Electric Starter Kit Review |

Got tired of pull starting my snow blower. Hooked it up very quickly.
Just plug your snow blower into a standard household electrical outlet and press the button. Voila. It starts magically.
No battery to charge or maintain. Very easy to use. Thanks. |

| Disapointment (do not post, not our customer) |
| By vince (Gloversville, NY) |
I bought this snowblower last year with high expectations from a machine that carried the brand name Ariens.
At first I was impressed with how easily it started, the engine is strong and performs great under all conditions.
The first problem I encountered was the discharge height cable freezes and cannot be adjusted when used sub zero weather. So I leave it at a height that works for my driveway without being able to adjust during use.
Next, the left hand wheel stops working when ever it wants without any warning causing the snowblower to pull to the left quite hard actually hitting and damaging the siding on my home on two occasions.
Next, while trying to adjust the delivery direction of the discharge chute, the control lever started to jump and snap without the chute moving to the correct position. Turns out it was a broken gear on the lever that turns the chute. It was replaced but the trouble persisted as it jumped and snapped on every adjustment.
So, I returned it to my place of purchase and asked them to have a look at it. A few days later, I called and was told they were overwhelmed with work and it would be a few more days.
So, I waited till the end of the week and called they informed me it was all set. The next day when I went to pick it up the service guy said he should charge me because it was all just cable adjustments he said they were all frayed and if I had read my manual it explains how to do it all myself.
Now, being a mechanic for 40 years and working on much more complicated equipment than a snowblower, I was a bit peeved at what he was implying so I asked him if he actually looked at the machine. He said it was all fixed and helped me load it on my truck. two days later I decided to try it out.
Yup, just as I expected, the wheel didn't drive and the snow was delivered in a random direction determined by the blower. So unless you live in a warm area with no need for blowing snow this machine is not for you. |
