After 6 years I fried my Toro Commander single-stage snow blower. We had 2 separate snow storms come through with terrible drifting after the second snow.
In all there was 10-14 inches of snow with drifts 3-8 feet high. The single stage just couldn't take it any more - I do anywhere from 5-13 driveways and sidewalks, so the Toro has gotten a work out for the past 6 years.
I found a deal on this Ariens 824E. I took it out and hit the snow drifts and city-plowed snow - NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.
Let me rephrase that - the problem I had was getting used to the power of this 2-stage. It shot snow from my sidewalk to my house - hitting my front picture window (luckily no ice chunks shattered the glass).
Anyways, this is my first 2-stage and I assume, the last snow thrower I'll ever own.
Ariens has a great reputation and in the short time of owning and using this product I can see why.
