I should have gotten this a long time ago
As an owner of a single-stage Ariens I had little doubt that the snow-blower was going to be of good quality, but I was surprised to see HOW well this machine is built.
Everything is solid and perfectly crafted and it took me about 10 minutes to assemble the few parts that were not already attached.
The engine woke up right up with a yank of the manual starter (and the choke on) and the various gears (forward and back) work wonderfully. I have a very steep driveway and the 920006 climbed cheerfully up without a hiccup.
Finally, the model is compact enough to fit in the shed next to all the other equipment.
All in all I could not be happier with the purchase. As an owner of a single-stage Ariens I had little doubt that the snow-blower was going to be of good quality, but I was surprised to see HOW well this machine is built.

Excellent and fast service; Part 1
Excellent and fast service.
We placed our order on March 6th and just got it delivered (March 12th). The carrier was R&L and they were excellent.
They sent a very professional driver who drove his tractor trailer into the neighborhood, unloaded the snowblower box and pushed it on the dolly about 75 feet to my house and into the garage! (Of course, I gave him a good tip for his help.)
In opening the box, there seems to be minimal to do. Looks like all I have to assemble is the snow chute and bar. Otherwise, it comes in the box the same as a lawn mower does. The handle folds down onto itself.
My son and I will be taking it out of the box this weekend to crank it up and see how it runs. I'll definitely give another feedback at that time.
Thanks again to SnowBlowers Direct and R&L Transport. A word of advice to prospective customers: get the liftgate. I originally didn't but added it to my order afterward.
If the truck didn't have a lift gate, I have no idea how we could have muscled that box off the truck without injury. Excellent and fast service.

Quality, Service, Value
I looked all over for a snow blower. This model, by far and away, was rated the best- and it was.
Snow Blowers Direct is great. They answered all my questions and had the product at my door in 3 days... Major home improvement stores in my area don't carry them in stock. You have to order sight unseen and wait 10 days. Plus, they cost more.
The delivery is easy and my delivery company was super. The Ariens was super easy to put what few parts together that's needed, and both SBD and Ariens were there to answer any questions I had.
By all means, if you need one this is the brand and the company to buy it from. I looked all over for a snow blower. This model, by far and away, was rated the best- and it was.

Outstanding Machine
I received the snow blower on a Wednesday, and about 20 minutes later I had put it together.
The big snow arrived on Friday... by the afternoon of Saturday we had at least 22 inches of snow.
We have a large driveway and I began my new adventure, it's the best investment I have made. Within a few hours, without any difficulties and pain in the body, I was finished.
Thanks so much; I recommend this unit, it's outstanding.

Affordable snowblower
Well, I live on a hill which is impossible to drive when covered with snow. Since here in Fairview, NC it does not snow very often, and not a lot, I did not need anything sophisticated orvery powerful, but something affordable and good.
The Ariens 920006 has done a very good job. With lots of branches falling from the trees, and not being able to see them, the shear bolt broke 5 times. Hey, snowblowers are designed to blow snow and not tree branches.
But that's what shear bolts are designed for: to save the gears and belts from breaking. All you have to do is replace them- a 1 minute job with the proper tools, if that long.
I am satisfied and would recommend it if you do not have a lot a snow to blow and want an affordable snowblower.
As far as blowing lots and lots of snow I cannot tell because all I have here in 12" to 14" of snow when it snows.... Well, I live on a hill which is impossible to drive when covered with snow. Handles Steep Drive, No Problem
I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. My driveway is 400 ft x 9 ft, with a near 90 degree turn a quarter of the way up, and it's made of concrete.
To say it's STEEP is an understatement. I have people that drive up but are too scared to drive themselves down.
This year's snow storms finally got the best of me and I bought the Ariens Compact 24 snowblower. I do not know why I waited so long to get one of these machines.
I had reservations whether or not the Compact 24 would be able to pull my drive and clear snow at the same time.

Thanks!
As a transplant patient and just simply can’t manage heavy shoveling anymore.
The weather service said we were going to get slammed in the Washington DC area with 20 to 30 inches of snow. This may not seem like much to some folks but in DC it is a major event.
I purchased this snow blower online, from Snow Blowers Direct in Illinois on Wednesday February the 3rd at 3:00 pm and paid the 50 dollar priority shipping in a hope it would make it in time. I then tracked it from Illinois, picking it up at the trucking terminal on Friday the 5th in Baltimore at 9:00 am, just hours before the start of the snow.
It took my daughter and I about 15 minutes to assemble the chute and bolt up the handle, everything else was ready to go, it even had oil in the engine! We added gas, started with the 115-volt electric start feature and the blower was ready to go.
On Saturday morning there was already 20 inches on wet heavy snow on the ground when I started. I had reservations about how well it would work as the snow was actually over the chute opening in some places, but this machine cut through it with minimal effort on my part.
This is an excellent American- made machine; the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. I don’t know what I would have done with out it…
Thanks a heap for the fast service, folks! As a transplant patient and just simply can’t manage heavy shoveling anymore.

Neighborhood Bonding
We bought our Ariens with two other neighbors. We're getting too old to shovel, one neighbor is developing a bad back, and the other one, with room to store it, is young and strong.
We've just used it with a recent storm, and the guys (even the old one!) spent almost all day playing with it, clearing off the entire street's drives and walks.
It was easy to assemble, started up on the first try, the controls are super easy, and the kids adored having snow blown all over them from its very functional and adjustable chute's aim.
It easily cleared out the piles in front of the driveways and mailboxes left by the city's plows. It could handle quite deep snow easily. We're delighted.

New toy
Overall I'm very pleased with my new machine. We recently had 3 feet of snow in the San Bernardino Mts. and the Ariens was up to the task. I couldn't have moved all that snow by hand.
My only complaint is with the shear bolts. I realize they're designed to break to prevent real damage, but this should have been disclosed more clearly and more replacement bolts supplied.

Snow eater
I have a house in Berlin Pa.
I try to get up to the house at least every 3rd week to check on the place. The snow is usually 2 to3 feet deep on the driveway from snow drifts and snowplows covering the entrance.
This was the case last week end. The Ariens chewed through the snow and ice that had piled up, I would not have been able to get in the drive way for hours without it.
I keep it gassed and ready for when I arrive.

Little guy packs a punch!
This really is a "compact" snowblower. It doesn't hog your entire garage. It isn't so heavy that you wear yourself out moving it around. And in my case I can convince my wife to run it if need be.
With all that said, I have a 3-stall garage on a city lot. So my driveway is relatively short, but fairly wide. I live in SE Minnesota, so we get several heavy snowfalls a year. I also live on a corner lot, so the end of the sidewalk constantly gets plowed in. This is nontrivial since that crosswalk is only a block from an elementary school.
For the past 6 years I shoveled 2 of the 3 stalls of my driveway, and often left the sidewalk untouched. I just couldn't physically keep up with the wetter, heavier snowfalls.
This year we had a few major (several inches at a time) snows, and I looked forward to every one! My Ariens kept up quite nicely. Sometimes in really thick snow it wanted to drive over the bottom few inches to blow the top few, but a couple passes easily took care of it. It si definitely a pleasure to use.
I was also surprised that I didn't once need to use the electric starter. I'd just prime the engine with the primer bulb, turn the choke on, and it started on the first pull every time!
I also expected more assembly to be required. I was surprised how assembled it was. Of course I still recommend bringing the manual INSIDE to read and familiarize with. I made the mistake of being out in the cold and freezing my hands.
Bottom line, if you have a small to reasonable amount of area to clear, this machine is more than up to the task.
If you have a lot of sidewalk you want to cover in one pass, or your driveway is very large, you'll be out there for a while with this guy. This really is a "compact" snowblower. All American Construction
I purchased this unit new and was impressed with the all American steel construction.
I loved the fact that it also had an all American Briggs and Stratton 205cc engine. I brought it home and tried it out.
I couldn't believe the power this thing has, as well as an easy starting engine which required about a quarter pull and then it was running.
I was also impressed with how quiet the engine was as well as the auger interlock allowing one handed adjustment of the all steel chute operation while still blowing.
This is the best built, quietest, easiest to use snow blower I have ever used. I have had Hondas and others...this beats them all!!!

Very Impressed
My old snowblower, an 8 HP 32" wide cut, broke down on me on Christmas eve...trying to keep up with the blizzard we were in the middle of.
After chasing snowblowers all around town and just missing by a hair- I came across this "little" orange snow blower.
I thought there was no way this little thing would get the job done... after all, the blizzard produced over 24" of snow in under 2 days, not to mention the drifts created by the 40+mph winds.
So please excuse my skepticism about how well this thing would work. At this point, I really had no choice, so I bought it.
I got it home, put it together in the snow in about 30 minutes, dumped some gas in, and got her running. The first thing I noticed is how quiet it is (I should note that my model came with the Subaru engine.)
This little thing really works hard! It will dig it's way through a deep pile of snow without missing a beat. It really gives my older and larger blower a run for it's money.
I would highly recommend this snow blower to anyone. My old snowblower, an 8 HP 32" wide cut, broke down on me on Christmas eve...trying to keep up with the blizzard we were in the middle of.
