I've always had a snow blower but as I got older my big clumsy machine made it very tiring and I was worried naturally how tired I was after I cleared the driveway and snow bank. My problem was if I had to help the blower by pushing forward or pulling it back, or had to start it with the pull cord. It had electric start but sometimes you're too far away, it was very hard and would not always start on the first pull, and with the high compression made it real difficult physically. So when I heard ariens had SUBARU ENGINES with decompression and lighter more easy to maneuver I bought one.

Well what a pleasure, MUCH QUIETER, I only use the pull cord to start it and lighter to maneuver . This is a machine made for seniors which allows them to continue to do what they have been doing .

So to Ariens, smart to use SUBARU ENGINES.

Bottom line is that it works like a champ. Flawless operation all last winter, just serviced it to prep for this year and it started effortlessly on the first easy pull. I've seen other brands start to rust after the first season, but when I looked this one over there isn't a single spot anywhere. This one is heavy duty enough that it easily let me keep the sidewalks in front of my home and about 25 neighboring homes clear last winter, it had the power to keep my two and 6 other parking spaces cleared out, yet this is relatively light and very easy to maneuver around when compared to the competition.

I bought the snow blower January 2, 2010 and assembled it in less than 30 minutes using easy to follow instructions.

Assembly included: mounting the handle (four bolts) mounting the discharge chute (two bolts) inserting and pinning the chute crank (one locking pin) and connecting the speed selector linkage (two bolts). Even the mechanically-challenged can handle this assembly.

I woke up the next morning to 3" of new snow which added to the 14" already on the ground. The machine started right up and ran like a top.

After clearing the new snow I went to work on cleaning up some of the old snow that accumulated. The snow blower made short work of it, even though a freezing rain made the old snow pretty crusty.

I purchased the optional cover for my snow blower and it fit like a glove right out of the box.
