Q: Kriss, what is liftgate service and will my snowblower arrive fully assembled?
by Arthur McKean from Massachusetts on December 01, 2011

A: The lift gate service is the hydraulic lift on the back of the semi truck, which lowers the unit onto the ground for you. With us using common carriers, this is an extra cost coming from them.

The snow blower is going to need minor assembly with the handle bars needing to be pulled into their upright position and the chute needing to be attached.

Q: Kriss,
Still reserching. 30" deluxe versus platinum. How does the auto traction work? Are there any disadvantages? How do they work for transport across yard? Have long gravel drive and do pond for skating.

by Ralph from Michigan on September 30, 2011

A: The differences are going to come in the options as you know, but will also come in engine size, which having a bigger engine can be benficial when it comes to the wet heavy snows. The auto traction drive is going to work similar to the locking clutches on other units if you are familiar except you don't have have the clutches. When you start to lean into a turn the snow blower will sense this and one wheel will stay locked in as the other slows helping you make the turn on a dime. Not too many disadvantages except you may run into a situation where you may hit a stone or bump and the unit may want to try to steer that direction. Transport would not be difficult, you would just want to raise up on it and don't engage the auger.

Q: I am interested in the Ariens 28 Deluxe model, as it is more in my price range. I know that this model does not have traction control My concern is how hard is it to turn the Ariens 28 Deluxe 180 degrees. Keep in mind that when answering, note that I have a bad shoulder. Thanks.

by Rob from New York on August 08, 2011

A: This unit is not going to be a great deal harder to turn. It will have a lock out clutch on the left hand side to lock out a wheel to help make turning easier. This is not going to be as easy as auto traction drive, but not as difficult as a pin on the wheel that most people don't end up using because it becomes a pain. Another option would be to possibly look at a ST24DLE, this has the auto traction drive and is not a great deal more.

Snowblowerdirect And Ariens Snowblower A Christmas Wish Come Tru
We purchased the Ariens Deluxe ST28LE (28") 250cc Two-Stage Snow Blower (2013 Model) from SnowBlowersDirect.com to help us battle Wisconsin winters. The product was quickly delivered right to our door within a week of ordering. The order/delivery process was quick and easy...especially since we wouldn't have any means of hauling a new machine from the store in either of our two compact cars (free shipping was a bonus!!).

It was relatively easy to put together, even for us being... more
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Reliable

New Blower
I received my blower five days after ordering. The delivery driver set the pallet right where I asked him to. Assembly was easy and only took 30-45 minutes. As advertised it fired in one pull of the cord. I had my first chance to use it during winter storm Nemo. This machine never bogged down and put my old MTD to shame. As far as Snow Blowers Direct I won't hesitate to deal with them again - in fact I have already ordered a set of drift cutters. Great machine and great service.

Snow Monster
Over the years I have owned many snow blowers Canadian,Sears , and John Deer both walk behind and mounted on a lawn tractor.
When the snow was wet and hard to move the other blowers I had it would plug the chute and impeller. I would have to stop the blower to clear the wet snow out of the chute and impeller this would happen many times.

On 28 Dec 2012 Spring hill Nova Scotia where I live received 20cm of wet snow and then on the 31 Dec we received 30cm more. I was looking forward to... more

Gas Leakage
Put my new snow blower together (THE GUY WHO WROTE THE INSTRUCTIONS COULD USE A TECHNICAL WRITING COURSE) and filled it with gas. Immediately fuel began to leak pretty bad. Cut the fuel off and called Snow Blowers Direct. Gave the name of a close by shop that works on this product and they had to pick it up. They found that the float had been stuck and brought it back for $65. Word of caution. Once you put gas in the engine it can not be returned due to Fed regs.

Left Wheel Will Not Engage On Forward Gear.
I just bought this snow blower because I gave my Craftsman snow blower to my son. I bought this snow blower due to positive review in consumer report and from owners positive reviews.

After using the machine after the first small snowfall of this year I'm very disappointed. This machine has a release lever to disengage the left wheel to make the machine easier to turn. The left wheel will not engage when on a forward gear. Sounded like a good feature but hasn't worked well. Most of the... more

Been A Good Machine
I have what was 4 years ago, the 27" version of this machine. Thought I'd update with a review.
Good machine, still starts easy in any weather "unless". I've had the start mechanism (pull cord) freeze up when we had wet and then sudden cold, I have to park the machine outside for the 3 months of winter. Only fix was to bring it in the garage and wait to thaw. Electric start didn't work then either. Same goes for the drive, sometimes I have to rock or jerk the machine around to... more

Waiting For The New England Snow
I wanted to buy an Airens snow blower for a time now. My old Craftsmen just about had it. I searched different stores on line and I was pleased to find Snow blowers Direct. I had it in a week. Delivered right to my driveway. This is an awesome machine. You can see the quality. I'm sure it will take care of the Massachusett's snow we get. Pay the extra couple of bucks to get an Airens you'll be happy you did.
Pros: Durable, Reliable, High Quality, Tough Machine

Almost Cant Wait For Snow!. Almost
My dad has had an Ariens for years and the thing is a beast. When I realized it was American made, for a reasonable price, and a good machine it was a no brainer. Snow Blowers Direct sold to me for a fair price. The machine was at my house 4 days later. Assembly was pretty easy. I will update after I have used a few times.

I have never shipped anything to me this big before but it was a good experience. I started putting it together on a Saturday and I really did not like the instructions, what a joke. I did find a problem, one of the clutch cables was trapped on the wrong side of the hand grip, I had to loosen a screw so it would hang and align as intended, my guess is that someone packaged it on a Friday. I have it all assembled but I ran out of time to try it out. I plan to gas and oil it soon so I can be... more

Let It Snow
Delivery- excellent.

Assembly- very easy.

It starts and is ready to go with ease, however, so far I've only had a quick run with 1" of snow. (The 30" in the Northeast missed DC.)

So- Let It Snow! Seal Team stands ready to clear snow.
