Kriss's Recommendation
The Ariens ST28DLET Pro track snow thrower is a heavy-duty snow thrower driven by a track. This model is not your everyday snow blower - the track drive system makes this snow blower especially good for steep terrain. This model is rugged enough to climb hills and holds position well on the downhill climb, as well.
The Ariens ST28DLET is powered by a mammoth 420cc engine made by Briggs & Stratton. You'll have plenty of momentum to move over just about anything you may encounter.
When you're outside for long periods of time, you'll come to appreciate the comfort of the Ariens ST28DLET's hand warmers. The ST28DLET also includes a wide 28-inch clearing path, electric start, drift cutters and a halogen headlight. The chute on this snow blower rotates a full 200 degrees, has a remote deflector control and comes with a chute-clearing device.
Heavy, wet snow as deep as two feet will be sent flying up to 50 feet away when you churn into it. This baby will clear more than a ton of snow per hour, and do it with ease.
The major disadvantage of the Ariens ST28DLET is its performance on tight turns. If you have a short or narrow drive and anticipate making lots of turns, consider a model equipped with wheels instead. Even though this model's track is smaller and more maneuverable than some others, it still complicates turns. Unless you have a steep hill, this machine may be too much snow blower for your home; if you'll be clearing multiple drives, on the other hand, you may find this machine to be just the powerhouse you need.
The Ariens ST28DLET is obviously not for everyone. But it is an ideal snow thrower for clearing terrain that would slow wheeled models to a halt.

Amazing, Recomend for Serious snow removal
I just ordered my 926042 Ariens Pro 28" with track drive. I had been talking back and fourth with Kriss for weeks and he was really, really helpful. I ordered the thrower on Sunday, it shipped on Monday and i got it on Wednesday. Awesome shipping. The only complaint I have it the driver from R&L was really rude and gave me a hard time when I asked if he could not just leave it at the end of my driveway. He literally left on half on the street and in my drive. I told him that I have a bad back and just got a spinal fusion I would not be able to move it. He gave me a hard time told me to do it myself he didn't want to end up like me. I was appalled and tried to move it myself and could not, then then ripped it from my hands and dragged it to my garage.
Enough of that, as far as the blower goes it is really well made it started right up runs smooth and it really built like a tank. I can't wait for it to snow now, I never thought I would say that. I will post an update after my first snow. I have literally researched blowers for months and months. I have to say ARIENS is the best out there. All made in USA no China parts here.
I had a small pile of ice at the end of my driveway I drive the blower down there and threw it totally across the street onto the property across from me, WOW.

Excellent Ariens Professional Track ST28DLET (28")
The Ariens Pro Track does everything I would expect it to to. It has excellent traction (have gravel drive with slope at the entrance). I set the skid plates high to stay out of the rock. Cuts through 24" with little effort - throws about 75' or more. The only complaint is that the reverse speeds could be a little faster.

Great snowblower
Great machine, powerful motor -- but I found it a little difficult to maneuver with the tracks. Wheels are better when you have to snow blow in small tight spots. Great machine overall.

Nice Machine
This thing is awesome, mostly.
Good:
Good deal, good lift-gate service, took a few hours to put together. Starts first pull, tracks really grip on inclines, not so hard to steer as long as tracks are in "unlock" position (so that they move independently), hand warmers are awesome.
One problem, or else 5 stars:
The chute control was a hard thing to assemble, but I'm certain I got it done properly and it doesn't work well. The handle is designed to unlock with a tug toward the operator and then move left or right based upon lever movement left or right. Problem is that the gear assembly is so short-toothed that it must be adjusted tight to hold in position, but when adjusted that tightly, it is a real pain to unlock it with the lever on the control panel. So, the options are to have a floppy chute or have it locked left or right, or fight with it at the end of every run... there must be some way to do this better, but this is going to be a pain.
Overall, I'm happy, but I would have been wildly crazy about this machine if the chute control mechanism was more functional.

Snowbound in Minnesota
We recently moved from Connecticut with a 4-wd farm tractor with a blade attachment. We were confident that we could deal with any snow that Minnesota could throw at us...Were we mistaken!!!
The snow was so high that the tractor tires were completely covered in snow and all the tires did was spin! Thankfully, our neighbor took pity on us and came over with his 12 year old Ariens snow thrower with tracks, and we were sold on the spot!
We got online that afternoon and ordered our own. We have used it numerous times and couldn't be happier.

Brings the Power
This is a real man's machine. It snarled and snapped at me as soon as we opened the shipping package. To quote Tim the Tool Man Taylor: "Argh, Argh, Argh!!!.
Im so glad I bought the commercial model with tracks. I believe this will last many many years.

Snow blowing at 9200 feet
Our neighbors told us, and they were right, that we must have a Tracked snow blower. We have a 15 degree slope driveway at 9200 feet in Angel Fire, NM.
At 9200 feet the power of any non-turbo engine in decreased by 13%. Therefore the 342cc engine is needed. A dealer of another brand very honestly advised me to "go with the bigger engine Ariens".
The electric start is great. The machine chewed through 10 inches on the slope with no issues. The ability to unlock the tracks for tight turns is nice. Then, easily re-lock for maximum traction.
The easy height adjustment is important, since the ST28DLET will throw gravel as far as snow. A practical reminder to keep the chute pointed away from the house and vehicles. Our next door neighbor was impressed enough to order one himself.
