Q: Hi Kriss. Can the throwing distance for the snow be adjusted so it will not throw 30 feet? Thank you in advance by Diana from Ohio on November 11, 2011
A: Diana - the "flap" on the top of the discharge chute is called the DEFLECTOR. The deflector adjusts in an up and down motion. This is how you control the distance the snow will be thrown. The further "up" you position the deflector, the further you will throw the snow. If you want to lessen the distance, you would move the deflector in a down direction. In the all the way "down" position, this snow blower only throws snow 3 or 4 feet. by Kriss, Product Expert

Would recommend
I bought this model after looking at Toro of equal type but decided to get Cub Cadet for the better value. I am not sorry that i bought it because it works very well, even in very wet snow, which was the first snow we got this winter (2012). I have no problem recommending this cub cadet!!!

snow blower 221lhp
This is very very easy to start. I forgot to choke it the first time and it still started well. Powerful, and quiet, too. However, there are some small problems. First, the screws were hard to put on. Even an electric drill had trouble doing it. The paint had many small scratches and dents. When blowing snow, it leaves a small trail of snow. This wasn't a big problem since 95% of the snow is clear. Overall, it is way better than shoving snow. Worth the price.

A gutsy single stage snowthrower
I compared snowthrower features and came up with the Cub Cadet as the best single stage snowthrower. Power Equipment Direct had the best pricing. I had never order something such as this over the internet. After reading reviews about the company, I ordered the snowthrower. It came in a few days and the box had a punch hole in the side. I thought oh no...it was like something had been pushed against it over it against something. Anyway, not to worry. I signed the receipt noting possible shipping damage. After opening up the box and taking out the snowthrower, the damage was in a hollow area of the box.
Everything was intact and in a few minutes, after installing some easy to install items and using the oil provided (20 ounces) and gassing it up, I had it running. It must have included snow insurance, because we have not had a snow that merits using it yet, and here it is December 19th. I look forward to using the light and remote controls for the chute direction and height. Even though it was made by MTD, it was made to Cub Cadet's specs and with the 208cc motor, I look forward to throwing some snow.

On-Line Snow Blower Purchase
I recently purchased a Cub Cadet snow blower which arrived damaged (sub-frame was bent) and had to be exchanged for a replacement. I was pleasantly surprised at how helpful your customer service staff was (Joan & Kriss) at making the exchange as painless as possible. The second snow blower arrived in good shape and I have had no issues with it so far.
I would recommend to the Cub Cadet shipping department that they wrap the top of the handle to protect the paint from being scratched off by the bolt head that holds the chute on (it rests on the bolt head when folded down). Both of the snow blower handles had paint scratched off, which I had to touch up.
Thanks again to Joan & Kriss for all of their help in getting me a replacement as quickly as possible.
