Q: Do you have chains for the back tires? by Edwatrd Duszak from Delaware on October 24, 2011
A: Edward - the Cub Cadet 524WE has 15" x 5" tires. The Toro snow blower tire chains should fit, since the Toro's and the Cub 524WE use the same tire: tire chains by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: Is power steering worth it for the cub cadet 24" 2 stage? by Matt Johnson from Pennsylvania on October 24, 2011
A: Matt - power steering is a nice feature if you have a narrow driveway or a short driveway and you will need to make frequent turns. Or if you have a wife or girlfriend who will be using the snow blower besides you. Otherwise, you probably don't need it on a 24" model. The 24" model is not too heavy to maneuver without the power steering. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: What does 120V starting system mean? by Richard Cooper from Pennsylvania on October 18, 2011
A: 120V starting is pertaining to plugging an extension cord into a wall outlet and then plugging into the starter of the snow blower and pressure a button to start. Most snow blowers don't use a 12V start because snow blower use can be sporadic. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: Hi Kriss:
What is the difference between a Cub Cadet 524 WE and SWE? by Oney Smith from Maryland on September 24, 2011
A: Oney - The Cub Cadet 524SWE has an "assisted steering" (power steering) system. The Cub Cadet 524WE does not. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: Hi Kriss,
What are your thoughts comparing the Cub Cadet 524 WE vs the Craftsman 88957? by Chris Smith from Pennsylvania on August 11, 2011
A: In terms of the Cub Cadet model, these are good machines. When it comes to the Craftsman though, I don't have a ton of information to make the comparison because we don't handle the Craftsman and have never used one. The Craftsman models are made by MTD, the same company as Cub Cadet, but the Cub is going to be the high end stuff. When it comes to anything made by MTD, the Cub is always going to be the superior product. You can find some similarities, but the Cub is the premium line.
I ordered this most recently after the first snow storm of 2011, IN OCTOBER. I was waiting for the right moment to buy and that was a pretty big reminder that my old single stage was no longer up to the task. Ordering was easy, and even though the item was out of stock, it did inform me of the estimated due date.
The date changed once, but less than two weeks later had arrived. Although I have not used it yet, the delivery was a fully assembled unit crated up so I could see all angles of the snowblower. Lift the handle to the lock position, attach the snow cute, add gas and go.
I am very pleased with all aspects of the transaction.

First 2 stage
While I have not had snow here as yet, I can say that the buying experience was great. The delivery happened as it should have. The set-up for the Cub Cadet was very easy to do and did not take long. The Cub Cadet started on the first hit of the electric start and ran like a champ. This is my first 2 stage thrower. I had a small Craftsman single stage that I had been using for the past 16 years. I worked that machine pretty hard with the heavier snows that we have here and it slowly took it's toll. I'm really looking forward to using my new Cub Cadet. It looks well made and should last me for several years to come. It seems to be the correct machine for my needs. Thanks Snow Blowers Direct.

Cub Cadet 524we
I recently purchased the Cub Cadet 524we. Everything went great, from the time I made the purchase, through delivery and the setup. The machine has an electric start, and started with the first push of the start button. Although winter is a ways off yet, I am confident it will perform just fine. I also like the 3 year warranty, which only 2 years was being offered by the other manufacturers.
