It is not required, but it is recommended. You would have an issue travelling through deeper snow with the deck still attached. Deck removal is not difficult. It just requires jacking up the mower and using a couple wrenches. The procedure is outlined extensively in the owner's manual. by Kriss, Product Expert

A: Joe - yes, you can use the Husqvarna 48" plow blade on an Ariens tractor. The Ariens tractors are actually manufactured by Husqvarna, so all of the Husqvarna tractor attachments will fit on an Ariens tractor as well. by Kriss, Product Expert

A: This should fit your tractor if it is a 2008 or newer. If it is older than a 2008, it will not fit and the bracket fit differently.
