I spent much time researching snowblowers, after getting rid of my 12 year old Honda (big mistake). The Honda track was hard to turn around and this machine seemed to have everything including power steering.
It's been a mild winter and although I purchased the snowblower in October, didn't use it until a 4" snowfall in February. After cleaning my driveway, while doing my neighbor's, the hydrostatic completely gave out. I had to drag the blower back to my house. This machine is heavy and now it's at the shop awaiting a repair.
Other "concerns" include the Chinese-made engine which starts OK (but nothing like the Honda) but has no throttle. I sometimes like to idle down while I move something in the path or put the blower in and out of the garage. Not a huge thing, but somewhat annoying. I also am used to idling the engine before shutting down. Not sure if that matters, but seems abrupt to kill it from a full throttle.
The power steering is not nearly as helpful as I had hoped. On a track blower this size it definitely helps, but you still need to use some effort to maneuver it.
This snowblower seems to "have it all" and is extremely well-built and heavy. For the money you get a lot, but seems to fall short of the Honda.
The Honda spoiled me, and at the time I thought I was saving $1,000. Now I'd gladly pay the extra $1,000 to have a Honda in my garage.
Snowblowers Direct is awesome for their selection, fast service, and you even save a little on tax.
