Not Happy With MTD Warranty
Purchased a MTD snow thrower and in two weeks the auger started to crack. After two more uses, the crack developed into a two inch C-shaped tear. An auger should not be made of flexible plastic.
The operator’s manual states the machine has a two year warranty. I contacted MTD to get a replacement part and they stated I had to go through a repair dealer to correct the defect. The dealer, after repairing the machine, told me I would have to pay for the repair because MTD does not warranty this part.
I contacted MTD, the technician told me it is my tough luck they do not cover the part. DO NOT PURCHASE MTD snow throwers, they are made so cheaply and do not stand behind their product.

MTD Snow Fox
I received this as a gift after the 2009-2010 snow season.
I used this for the 2010-2011 season and it does an excellent job clearing snow from the deck and wheelchair ramp. I use a 12AWG HD 50 ft extension cord, that stays flexible in the cold.
It can be used as a power shovel on steps, using the front handle. Powder snow just flies over the railing, use smaller 'bites' when clearing wet snow.
DO NOT let ice chunks or other solid objects enter the auger, damage will occur!

Too much fun!
I am 62 years old and I have a bad back so I treated myself to this little snow blower for Christmas. It only weighs 24 lbs and I can put it any where.
There was a slight learning curve involved which I think I have solved. # 1. Don't plow directly into the wind. You will become a snow cone in 30 seconds flat! #2. Don't, and I mean Don't, under any circumstances stand in front of the directional thingy looking over it. You will find out quickly, all you need to know about where it puts the snow.
This is the first winter in 20 years that the Village snow plow didn't bury me in my drive way. They came by and plowed me in, and I came out and threw it right back out. This is fun.
By the way.....fantastic , fast delivery. I work at one of the big box stores but we didn't carry this neat little version of the snow blower so I got it online with no tax, free shipping, 2 day delivery......awesome!!!!

Good Value, Not super powerful but does the trick
The key to using this product is the proper power cord and not overloading it. If you use a 12 AWG cord and don't try to blow more than 6" at a time this blower is really helpful.
It is not super powerful but it is easily storable and transportable. It takes up a little more room than a normal snow shovel. I am pretty impressed overall.
We had about 12" of snow. I made a pathway in the middle of the storm and then cleared again once it stopped snowing. I put this blower to the test in 12" of snow with poor results. However if you make two passes it does the trick.
