Why You Really Need a Front Weight Kit

Front weight kits serve two important purposes for two-stage snow blowers.

The first (and most obvious) reason is to prevent "kick ups."

The extra weight simply keeps the bucket planted firmly on the ground, preventing it from riding up when clearing snow drifts.

The second reason is actually pretty simple, but often overlooked.

Your snow blower is a lot like a seesaw. The weight is counterbalanced on the back wheels.

When you add a heavy snow cab to the back, the weight is no longer balanced.
