Q: Hi, I have this about 1/3 full on my back porch, with gas (and gas additive) leftover from Hurricane Sandy last October. Now that the weather is heating up, does this pose any risk of fire/explosion? (I have a shed, but it probably gets hotter in there than it does on the porch.) Thanks.

A: Leaving an exposed fuel container outdoors in heat and sun can be an extreme fire hazard. This would include any location that can reach high temperatures.

Please consult with a local fire inspector for the proper storage of combustible fuels.

A: Bruce - yes, the instructions on this model actually call out that the Flo-N-Go fuel tank should be tied down and transported in a horizontal position.

Q: How long will gas last?

A: Gasoline should be rotated every six months or so.

You can extend the shelf life if you add fuel stabilizer.

A 10-ounce bottle will keep 25 gallons of gasoline fresh for a whole year.

If you double the dosage, it can stay fresh for up to two years.

 Hand Pump Leaked After A Few Uses

Noticed fuel leaking out handle after second use. Leaking became so bad that I disassembled the hand pump (warranty had long since expired). The rubber pump diaphram had torn.

Removed the hand pump and now I have to lift the tank up higher than whatever I fill. Wish I had bought three 5 gal cans for a third the price.

Also, temperature changes cause the tank to bloat or collapse so need to open vent periodically to prevent deformation.
