1 Question
Q: Chris what is the difference between the Simplicity 822e and the EX version? by Joe from Michigan on July 31, 2011
A: Joe - the Simplicity SS822E has a basic hand crank to rotate the discharge chute from left to right, and the deflector angle is adjusted manually using a hand grip on the top of the deflector. On the Simplicity SS822EX, you have a "zip" chute adjustment system that allows you to both rotate the chute from left to right AND adjust the deflector angle up and down while you operate the snow blower. The SS822EX has "assisted" chute and deflector control. A lot of people find this to be much more convenient. by Kriss, Product Expert

Great Service
I love the one pull start. My wife enjoys the electric start. No oil to mix. Throws the snow far enough off the driveway. Just great.

Oil spots all over the driveway
Used this for the first snow fall of the year in NY
Excellent job of clearing the snow
However, now left with oil spots all over the drive way and a small pool of oil forming under the snow blower itself
So overall, not too happy with the machine - excellent result, but surely should not be leaking after one use??
Have sent an e-mail to customer service to see what happens next - but $500+ and leaking after one use is not what I was expecting!!

Great little machine
I bought this little guy just a week and a half before our first real snow this winter in Chicago. As I live close by, I went directly to SnowBlowers Direct and purchased this unit and took it home with me. Kriss was my salesman and answered all of my questions. (He also let my kids climb over every lawnmower and snowblower in the place so, kudos to Kris.)
I set it up right away... It's packaged with a container of oil (19 oz. bottle, just within spec). Also, there's a new (to me) fuel saver system that installs in the gas cap. Simply peel a plastic backing, snap it in the gas cap, and it slow drips (slooooooow drips) the right amount of fuel saver to last for six months. I set that up right away, put the handle and chute together, filled it up with gas and checked to be certain it would start and run. and then I waited.....
and waited......
and waited......
And a few days ago, we got our 4"-8" of snow, as promised. I waited till the end of the snow to see how it would handle and, it did great. Chute rotation easy and perfect. Shoots exactly 90º to the right and a little more than 90º to the left. The paddles and scraper make perfect contact with the ground, making it unnecessary to shovel afterward... especially if you put a little salt down. It really wants to shoot snow far away... I had to turn the deflector (which is a beautiful positive-stop-n-click as opposed to wing-nuts and washers) down to avoid getting snow on the houses or the street.
The only minor inconvenience is the paddle engaging bar is more than a hands length away from the handle (for average sized hands). Because of this, I found that I wasn't inclined to release the bar when I was backing up or changing direction but, this is a VERY minor inconvenience. It maneuvers very well and cleans up easily. Having a Briggs engine (I think it's close to 6 HP) that you can find parts for is also a HUGE plus.
I can't say that I enjoy snow removal... But I CAN say that I hate it much much less than I ever did before.
