I bought my first Toro snowblower back in 1987. It was a larger single stage model, around 6.5 H.P., and it still starts and runs like new to this day. It was, however, too heavy to easily put in a car to transport so in 2000 I purchased a Toro Powerlite 38182 with the 3.25 H.P. Tecumseh engine.
This has been a super reliable snowblower and is a pleasure to use. Originally I used the electric start a lot but lately I have been using the manual starter and it starts on the second or third pull. The only service I have done is to change the spark plug once or twice and replace the paddles, scraper bar, and belt as needed.
I was disappointed to learn that 2009 was the last year this 2 cycle was produced so I began my quest to search for any remaining closeouts to no avail. I did find a couple of lightly used ones on eBay, (one was only used 4 times and the other only one season), and I purchased both of them. I would highly recommend this snowblower to anyone who can find one, even if it is used. They are very easy to maintain and parts are readily available from your Toro dealer.
