Q: Is this usable on gravel and uneven walkway slabs by Anonymous from Pennsylvania on November 19, 2011
A: Yes, it's usable, but I never recommend any electric or gas-powered single stage snow blowers for gravel surfaces. The auger paddles on these models engage the surface being cleared of snow, so you will throw not only the snow, but small rocks and stones from your driveway as well. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: How long a cord can be used? How deep is the snow that can be handeled by this blower?I am 79 yrs and want to do walkways and paths. Would this do the trick? nThanks by Ann Valair from Massachusetts on August 13, 2011
A: Ann - you can use up to 150 feet of extension cord to operate the Toro 1800 Power Curve. If using 101 to 150 feet of extension cord, you would need to use a 12-gauge outdoor rated cord. If using 100 feet or less of extension cord, you can use a 14-gauge outdoor rated cord. The Toro 1800 Power curve will handle light, fluffy snowfall of up to about 10 inches. Figure on 5 or 6 inches max if the snow is wet and heavy. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: On "consumer Search", the TORO 1800 was recommended for "flat" surfaces. I have a sloped driveway - would that be a problem for this snowblower ? by Allan Shapiro on July 03, 2011
A: It would not be a huge problem, it would depend on how sloped the surface was. If you have a larger driveway, it may be a problem just because this unit is electric. Just keep in mind one of the main reasons this is suggested for flat surfaces is because you are actually pushing this. The paddles give you a little help, but you are pushing for the most part.

Ideal for residential use, the Toro 1800 Electric Power Curve snow blower is small in stature, but packs plenty of muscle to snow from driveways and walkways. Its deep-cutting blades and powerful electric motor move snow out of the way, while the adjustable chute puts that snow right where you want it.
The Toro 1800 Power Curve's 15 amp electric motor moves up to 700 pounds of snow per minute and can launch snow up to 30 feet. Weighing in at just 25 pounds, the Toro 1800 Power Curve is also very easy to maneuver.
Because it's electric powered, the Toro 1800 Power Curve can be used by any member of the family. And that electric motor also means its environmentally friendly, as compared to snow throwers that rely on gas powered engines. All you have to do is plug it in and off you go!

I bought one of these in the Spring of 2011, vowing to make clearing my driveway easier. I am a physically fit 77-year-old, but a rotator cuff problem is aggravated when I have to shovel stuff.
This great little blower was really easy to assemble...took about five minutes. Today we had our first snowfall, about 10" afternoon and overnight, and I just cleared it. It was a snap, and controlling the direction of the blow is easier than other blowers I've used. Our drive is 25' wide and about 70' long, and the Toro 1800 made it as easy as can be. It took me about 20 minutes, including about 100 feet of sidewalks in my suburban area.
This snow was moderately "wet", not really heavy...if it was heavier, I think I might have had to do it twice, first earlier before the accumulation hit 10", more like 6-8", but I'm only guessing at this.
One big advantage of a blower compared to shoveling is that with a blower, the snow is spread well back from the sides of the driveway. This means that there are no deep snowbanks to ruin our lawn!
The Toro 1800 machine is light and compact. Its plastic parts are nevertheless sturdy, metal where needed, and it's easy to clean up so I can store it off-season in our inside storeroom rather than the garage. Yes, the cut is fairly narrow, and when you make passes after the first, you can't use the full 18" width to avoid spilling over the already-done side (kind of like mowing), but so what? It goes so fast, it's still easy!
One suggestion: Get a good power cord that stays flexible in cold weather! I got one with #10 wire (only two-conductor cable is needed by the blower, but I could only find 3-conductor) and it was expensive, around $80 for 100', but it was worth it. It stayed easy to handle, and that was a great convenience.
Buy the Toro 1800. You won't regret it! And Snowblowers Direct was great about rating, pricing and shipping the product. First class vendor!

My "Girl" Snowblower
The snowblower of my husband is an ancient, enormous, smoke-coughing, gas powered "He-man" machine. I was given a "lesson" on how to operate this monstrosity by plugging it in (to power the starter), taught how to regulate the choke, and how to drive it. Of course, the choke didn't work for me, and I didn't have the strength to pull the cord. Worse, I could barely push it. The lesson was a disaster.
Since my husband works out of town during the week, snowblowing the driveway and sidewalks will fall on me. I had to take action-- and fast! This is Michigan after all, and snow is inevitable. So, I scoured the internet and happened on this wonderful website. I decided an electric machine would be ideal, as I don't want to arrive at work reeking of gasoline. I reviewed the electric machines available, and settled on this little Toro.
When I ordered it, I asked that it be delivered to my back door, which it was, only four days after I ordered it. I dragged the box into my kitchen and I (and I mean me, myself and I) put it together with no trouble at all. It only took about 20 minutes to assemble the handle, insert the turn rod, and clip the cord. I was immensely proud of myself!
I stashed my new little Toro (which I have named Toni--she's a girl of course) in the garage-- and it was EASY to carry, too! When my husband came home a few days later, imagine his surprise when he opened the garage door. After his initial shock, and even dismay, he is now firmly in my corner. I'd say he is even proud of my self-sufficiency and initiative.
Unfortunately, we've only had a dusting of snow so far this year-- which is unusual for January in the Hinterland. However, I'm eager to fire up little Toni Toro and put her to work. She will do a dandy job removing the snow, getting me to work on time--and all the while, I'll remain smelling sweet as roses.

2nd Toro 18" Power Curve I own, just bought 1 for son in NJ. We both have small grounds but snow blower needed, driveways, paths/walkways no sweat, Toro works great. Takes up to about 12" deep just got to play it safe. DO NOT ABUSE OR FORCE, ROCK BLOWER BACK & FORTH OR YOU'LL CHEW IT UP. My original lasted 5 years till I blew the main belt, couple of bucks, installed & still working. If you have limited grounds & it snows up to a foot, great investment & Snow Blowers Direct has the best price you can get.

Toro 1800 problems
I used this machine once and the chute turn locked up. Got it going again and the auger won't turn, therefore I'm not getting any snow in the the blower. There was a horrible smell like the motor was burning up. I used to be a repairman and fixed all kinds of electric and pneumatic tools and appliances.

It's an electric- the good and the limitations
I bought an electric because I have a short (60 ft), level driveway, and in theory I don't need a snow blower at all. I live in a contract maintenance community where the snow is supposed to be shoveled for us. That was one of my motivations to buy there- I have been shoveling snow for almost 50 years and I am tired of it. This year the community bungled the contract, so there was street plowing but no drive and sidewalk shoveling. After shoveling 6 or 8 times in December and January I was ready to buy a snow blower. I have also learned that the normal contract will get our drives shoveled only when the snow depth exceeds 4", which is usually just a few times per year in northern Delaware.
The Toro 38381 is the largest, most powerful electric you can buy (completely consumes the output of a 15 amp circuit), although still low power compared to gas models. It weighs 27 lbs, so I can hang it on the garage pegboard, or even carry it up into the attic garage on the pull down stairs for the off season. This is important to me because I can't justify the garage floor space for a few uses per year. By comparison, most gas models are 90 lbs plus, so there is no storage option other than the garage floor for gas models. Electrics also avoid the issue of starting a gas motor only a few times per year. Electrics are also cheaper, and don't require dealer service, oil changes, etc. An electric made sense for me, but they don't make sense for every situation.
I received the blower only 3 days after ordering (did not pay the $50 extra shipping fee, despite ominous warnings from the customer service person who took my order that it might not be shipped for a couple weeks...). Assembly was nothing, just a couple of knob screws to secure the handle. It is virtually all plastic (hence the light weight).
It has snowed only once since I got it, about 4" of relatively wet snow. Based on this one trial, it did a good job of clearing my drive down to clean concrete (frozen slush areas excepted) in only 20 minutes (perhaps half of what it would have taken to shovel it, but with less muscle work). It threw the wet snow only 8-10 feet, but it threw 15-20 feet in areas where it was more powdery. The wet snow tended to clog the chute, which is to be expected. The snow mounded by the street plow at the end of the drive was more challenging, especially where the slushy snow had partially refrozen. Again this is to be expected. As a whole it did what I needed it to do. Wrangling the extension cord took longer than actually blowing the snow. I expect I will get better at planning the work to minimize cord wrangling and also minimize how often I need to adjust the chute orientation as I gain experience.
I am happy with the choice of model and type, and I am satisfied that it will do what I need it to do in this relatively light duty environment. Its maintenance-free and instant-on and easy storage features are great. I would be hesitant to buy and electric for very deep snow or longer driveways, but it made sense for me.

Four seasons so far of excellent service
I live in Montpelier, VT and when I moved to town after living in the boonies I brought a Gilson Brothers 8HP snowblower with me. That machine had 5 forward speeds and 2 reverse in two speed ranges and it was all of 6 feet long. It was overkill for the job at hand and I had to get rid of it. I used a large pusher scoop and hand shovels which used to take 3 to 4 hours to clean the driveway out. It now takes less than 30 minutes with the Toro Powercurve 1800 model # 38025.
It is remarkable how good this little machine does the job. It's light weight allows it to do things a gas blower can't. I once had to dig a 50 foot path from the sidewalk to my outside oil tank through 3 1/2 feet of snow. Standing on the walk I threw the machine onto the top of the snow as long as the handle would reach. I grabbed the handle to turn it on and started moving the machine back and forth like I was using an old reel mower. Very quickly it dug a trench 3 1/2 feet deep by 4 feet long. I stepped into the end of the trench and repeated the action. In less than fifteen minutes I was standing in front of the tank.
Large banks of snow have to broken down with a hand shovel but then it is very easy to run the blower over the broken up snow pack and throw it out of the driveway. The heavy wet snow that is pushed into the end of my driveway by the city's plows can be moved if you take very small bites no more than 3 to 6 inches wide. It only throws the wet stuff 4 to 6 feet but that's 4 to 6 feet I don't have to pick it up. Just remember to go slow so as not overtax the machine.
The only problems I've had so far is the switch would not engage the first season. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts and haven't had that trouble since. One of the plastic impeller blades has cracked and is broken clean through. This does not seem to have caused any problems so far. I have had no trouble with the belt. If I had to I would buy another Toro Powercurve 1800.

OK until the snow is compacted and wet
I've owned this model for 5 years. It has generally done the job for us, especially with lighter fluffy snow, but now that we are dealing with our worst winter ever here in MA (Jan-Feb 2011), as the snow gets deeper and more saturated with freezing rain, it became necessary to carve away slices with a shovel first, then use the Toro to blow it into our yard which has now piled up 3 feet (notice top of snow marker in photo. We have even more where we used to have somebody plow it, but we have no more room for plowed snow). We have been watching our neighbors get the job done much more quickly with bigger gas powered models, and we will take the plunge soon for a two stroke model.

Toro 1800 Electric snow blower is just great
I've never been able to pull the string to start gasoline engines so was shopping for something easy to use.
This is a great machine! In NE Ohio we have had a very snowy winter so far. I used this snowblower on 8" of snow in my drive and it handled with ease, blew it farther than I thought possible for a smaller machine and let me clean my double wide 55 ft concrete drive in a half hour.
I love this snow blower! I don't have to mess with buying gasoline, storing gasoline or maintaining the engine. I use a 100 ft cord and even clear the path to the mailbox in front since the street plow doesn't do a good job. I highly recommend this snowblower.

Our New Electric Snowblower Toro 1800
This purchase was a dazzling experience. The online information when printed out was something I could show my husband so he could decide to buy it. I love Toro, so nothing but a Toro was going to be o.k.
I am getting older and was in a car accident that took my right shoulder. I knew I wanted an electric for ease of use and upkeep and weight. Toro had it all.
Everything went just like the Web site promised. I ordered it and it was here in in 4 days. Perfect condition.
I had read the reviews to confirm my choice beforehand. My husband took his time taking it out of the box. We did have the holidays, guests, a wedding a week later, and then a family member's unexpected heart attack.
Finally, out of the box, the handle went on and the small plastic guides for the cords. We plugged it in today and moved a little snow. The machine is 24 lbs. (nothing-even with a bad shoulder) and powerful. It is exactly what you said it was and the purchase went exactly as you said it would go.
The machine casing is plastic so I will be watching how that holds up. Again, because of the need for light weight there had to be a trade off.
Wonderful deal, exact detailed information and a purchase that went as promised.

Does the job
We get a lot of snow in Erie, PA and some times all at once. And the snow removal city trucks come flying up the street and throw large, chunky-packed snow and with effort I managed to get through it. The rest was easy. Although I still don't like to do it but it is much easier and does a great job.

Good, belt issue
For all those that have had the belt issue similar to what I've read in several posts, the fix to the belt falling off is to simply tighten up the main rotor axle. Note it is reverse threaded (left to tighten). After doing this the 1800 works fine once again.
I down rated the 1800 to 4 stars for two reasons, (a) should not have to figure this out myself it should be in the manual, since it appears to be a common issue given the commentary from other owners (b) I'm sure there's some engineering trick that Toro could come up with that could alleviate this from happening.
PS - You'll need a 78 Allen Wrench and an adjustable wrench. Open both sides of the 1800, and then tighten using the wrench on the right side and the 78 Allen wrench on the left.

Real back saver
I've only used it twice, but what a back and time saver. A job that would take me an hour or more to do (depending on how wet the snow) I was able to complete in 15 to 20 min. My back and heart both appreciated it. I was kind of speptical as to what kind of job it would do since the blades are made of pastic, but it did a wonderful job. I wish it had come with some type of attachment to raise the bottom so you can do gravel driveway and walkway, so I made one. Just adding an 12 in. plate raises it enough to snow blow driveway and walkway without picking up gravel.

In The Nick Of Time
I ordered my snowblower and received it well in advance of the Blizzard of 2010 that caused my city, New York to come to a halt. I am sure glad I did. It was delivered on time and placed in my backyard as per my instructions.
It was easy to assemble, and as it is my habit, I read the instruction manual.
After the blizzard was over, it was time for the big test. For a small machine, it did a very good job. I was pleasantly surprised. Keep in mind that we had at least 20 inches of snow. While my neighbors were shoveling and eyeballing me with envy, I was pushing and letting the snowblower do all the work.
Since this was the first time I ever used a snowblower, I learned that it helps if you have a plan of attack. That is where to start to make the first pass so that one does not put snow back on the path just cleared, but this is a minor issue that is easily solved with experience.
The Wire Extreme Cold extension cord stayed flexible and did not stiffen due to the extreme cold temperature.
Overall I give this snowblower a thumbs up and that's no bull (Toro)

Great Purchase
I received your shipment in record time in good condition. The blower arrived about three days before we were hit with a blizzard of 29 inches of snow.
Naturally I did not expect it, or any other blower, except big commercial ones, to handle those deep drifts in one application, but with a little effort and preliminary shoveling the machine handled the remainder very well and I was quite satisfied with it.
I did not have any problem getting tangled with the extension cord - just a matter of paying attention. I like the light weight and the ease in changing direction of the chute as well. Hopefully that was the "big" storm for this winter.

Good Power Shovel
Works as advertised. If you get on it right away, it throws the snow well. Getting used to the cord is a little annoying, but once you get the hang of it, it is okay. Not meant to do an entire driveway.
Well worth the investment and sure beats shoveling.

Love this Snow Blower!
I have a huge gas powered snow blower which is too difficult for me to handle, and after having it repaired last year and dying out right after, I gave up on snow blowers, until I read a review on the Toro 1800 Power Curve.
It was meant for me to purchase this snow blower, because, right after getting it home, the snow started. My son put it together within 10 mins., and it was ready to go. It was really lightweight and easy to handle and did a splendid job. It's not as powerful as the bigger ones, but I am happy with it and would buy it again.
P.S just keep an eye on the power cord so you don't run over it with the snow blower.

After our first 8 inch snowfall of Fall 2010 I knew I couldn't live through another winter of my husband moaning and groaning about having to shovel our patio & deck area after each snowfall.
I wanted to surprise him with this Toro 1800 Power Curve Electric 15-Amp Snow Blower for Christmas but knowing that another snow storm was in the works I ordered it online in early December and it arrived about 5 days later. Just in time for the next 17 inch snowstorm. Granted, it wasn't the wet and heavy snow, it was the lighter, fluffier type.
But 17 inches of snow is still a lot of snow and my husband was amazed at how well this snow blower handled it. It's also nice no longer having to hate the dreaded snow forecasts. We are very pleased with this purchase and wish I would have thought to do this years ago.

I was able to first use my Toro snowblower in the recent storm where we got 8-10" of drifted snow. It performed well, the snow was fairly dry.
I would be a little concerned if the the snow was wetter as the snow tended to hang at the bottom of the chute a bit. I also had a bit of a problem starting and stopping with the safety switch (maybe it was me).
Overall I am satisfied with it so far, and the ease of purchase and timely delivery. Also, I didn't receive a purchase receipt.

Very lightweight, easy to use. I didn't want some cumbersome huge thing to have to deal with. All I have to do is plug it in and I'm ready to go. I love it.
It does a great job - it really throws the snow. I don't think its the snow blower for someone with a big area to clear, but I have a one car wide drive and about a car and half long and I'm really happy with it!
Very happy with Snow Blowers Direct too! Very prompt delivery!!

Oh what a relief it is
Central Missouri doesn't get a lot of snow, but when it does, look out. It's never the light powder snow, it always heavy, wet and just plain nasty stuff that makes shoveling a pain.
Decided this year to get a snowblower before the snows hit. Did a lot of comparative shopping, both in store and online, but didn't find the machine I wanted until I used Snow Blowers Direct.
This site allowed me to tailor my needs and matched me to the perfect snowblower. The first surprise was the prices, very competitive. The second surprise was the shipping was free. The third surprise was that the machine arrived via UPS the next day.
Assembly was quick and easy and I couldn't wait to try it out. I've used it twice and both times it was the wet heavy stuff. I applied silicone spray to the impeller and discharge chute and started clearing the driveway.
When I walked in the house about twenty minutes later, my wife asked if I was OK..she worried when I'd have to shovel. I told her I was fine and I was also finished. What took me over an hour to shovel was cleared in less that twenty minutes and my Toro did a much better job.
I'm very pleased with the overall experience and would not hesitate to used Snow Blowers Direct in the future.

Toro 38381 is well worth the cost - winter 2010 - two snowfalls to date I have used the Toro.
Very easy to assemble - makes short work of snow on my Ohio driveway. Truly lives up to the Toro name. Excellent delivery service from Snow Blowers Direct.

Great Snow Blower
This purchase was a replacement for one of the same. We'd had it for years and it finally got too tired to go any further.
This one, though basically the same, has some differences that are definitely improvements. The direction of the shoot is more secure when placed and the handle is better. Thank you so much for the improvements.
I'm sure we will enjoy this one for years as we did the old one.

I used my snow blower for the first time on December 11th and couldn't be happier with the way it performed. It sure beats the the old hand shoveling. Thanks for a great product.

Good Blower, Trouble With Switch
The electric model 1800 works very nice in dry light snow. Does a nice job.
The switch is a nightmare and who designed it should go a rather learn how to BLOW snow!!
The slightest pressure holding the on/off switch down causes the blower to stop and then BOTH hand need to be used to get it going again. Just plain stupid and totally user unfriendly!
After a short while my hand cramps while at the same time maneuvering the blower because with the other hand one needs to control the cord and that part is OK.
After I taped the switch permanently in the on position -- it work great! NOT OSHA approved!!
To stop -- I simply unplug the cord at the blower. Now I like it!!!

Light weight, very easy to assemble, had it up and running within 30 minutes. It's lightness is the only problem, as it doesn't have the oomph of my old Toro 2-speed gas blower--but don't need it in our new house with flat walkways and driveways. My wife finds it easy to use, too.
Highly recommend it!

Great First Impression
I bought the blower Friday night and used it Saturday morning with 3 inches on the ground. Easy to handle, good throw distance, quiet, easy start, no gas smell, no maintenance to speak of. I'm very pleased.
My wife never liked handling our 8 horsepower gas blower. She has back problems that prevent her from shoveling. She loved the ease of use of the 1800 and was impressed with how readily it moved the snow.
My only suggestion is that I wish the chute had a longer crank so that I don't have to lean over so far to move it.

A Back Saver
I purchased the Toro 1800 several years ago, and it's still ticking.
Live on Long Island, NY and have had several heavy snow storms.
My advice is to take a smaller amount of snow, about 12 the opening and it is unbelievable. It throws the snow further than my old gas blower (6.5 HP) and even though it was self propelled, my back felt it after and during snow removal.
This 1800 is lightweight and durable, a real back saver. Just use WD40 on the unit were applicable, watch the power cord and I think you will be very surprised.
I never thought I would suggest an electric snow blower over a self propelled gas operated one, but his 1800 changed my mind.
Saves time, no gas to worry about, does a fine job and most of all a BACK SAVER. Good Luck.

The belt came off on mine right away and was damaged so I had to get a new belt. Toro sent that to me which took about 10 days.
The new belt would just come off as soon as I turned it on as well. After getting pretty frustrated with it multiple times, I took the idler spring off of the belt tensioner so that it was not keeping tension on the belt and now it works OK.
I don't know why, but the tension on the belt was causing the belt to slip off of the pulley. Something must not be aligned correctly, but I can't see what the problem is. If anyone knows, please respond.

Toro Snow Thrower - Saved our backs
After our first 24" shoveled snow in December, we ordered this snow thrower after reviewing a zillion feedbacks.
We were not disappointed as we got to try it out just last weekend with our 31" additional snowfall and 8" more a few days later. It worked like a champ and we kept chipping away at the pile on our driveway and sidewalks.
It throws the snow a good distance too. We did use some spray to keep the snow moving through the chutes and had to manage the extension cords. It definitely takes longer to clean an area than our old mega snowblower but given the fact that it is very lightweight and electric, you can hang this up on a wall away from everything and not worry about running out of gas.

Got this one just in time
I bought this snow blower 2 months ago and we finally got to use it yesterday.
This is smaller than our gas snow blower but I wanted something I could use easier than the bigger one my husband uses.
It worked very well during the storm. Of course, I had to be wary of high drifts and go a little slower than with the big one, but we cleaned the driveway fine with it.
I think it was worth the money and am happy with it

Worked better than expected
So far in upper New York state we only had one storm to to test the snow blower.
It was heavy and wet, but the driveway was quickly cleared.
I should have gotten this a few years ago, my back would have loved it then as it does now.
This was a great value.

Mahlon Norton's review is delightful
My neighbors and I are looking for a new snowblower as our gas one is too heavy for some of us to manage. I just want to say that Mahlon Norton's review is delightful. My husband wants to know what vitamins he is taking! That was quite an experience. What an interesting person.
As I write this, the blizzard has arrived (we, like Mahlon, live in the DC area). I hope that Mahlon and family will stay safely inside this time around. Thanks for a terrific review. If we go electric, your review will help us make an informed decision.

Toro 1800 was excellent
I purchased my Toro after a rare 16-inch snow in mid-December. Here in tidewater Virginia, snow is not that common and is rarely more than four to six inches. This is why I purchased an electric model and not a gas model.
Saturday, we had 14 inches! The Toro was excellent. It cleared my large driveway, my walkway and my deck. I'll never be without a snow blower again!
I recommend this model.

Even with Snow Blowers, Patience is a Noble Virtue
I had a sneaking hunch that we would see some snow this winter. I decided, therefore, to research the available Snow Blowers from a performance aspect, as well as economy. I also approached my Chancellor of our Exchequer to see if we could afford one, after my research was completed. This was being done before Christmas near the end of 2009.
I finally settled on the Toro 38025 for a variety of reasons. My son owns one. He is a Lawyer and not at all mechanical. He brought his over for me to look at and lift. At age 87, the heft of a device like this is of some concern to me. I have a 40 foot driveway that has to be worried about when the White Stuff descends. I found you folks on the Internet and after I had read the various bits of literature that you folks and your competitors present, I ordered the Toro 38025 from you, even though it was not the most economical.
It arrived and I assembled it. I had decided to keep it on the side porch, off our living room. When I had completed the assembly, I hooked it up to an electrical outlet and turned it on, by squeezing the handle. It went off with a resounding roar and I was satisfied.
About 1 week later, the Washington D.C. area was blessed with an 18 inch snow fall. I knew I had to give the Snow-Blower its Trial Run. I shoveled off the front porch and eased the 38025 down to the level ground. I decided to hand shovel a patch of snow down to about the 8 inch level. I hooked the 38025 up to the nearby 115 Volt Outlet near the front porch and turned the blower on. I eased it toward the patch of snow and squeezed the Handle Switch. There was a loud "Whang" sound and then the roar of an unloaded AC Motor. No Snow came out. I lugged the Snow Blower back to our Front Hall and disassembled the device down to the area where the two belts take the power from the Blower Motor to the Snow Impeller. The large Belt that engages the Impeller had come off and had twisted itself up inside the machine. I reset the belt, around the idler Pulley and the Drive pulley of the Impeller.
I took it outside again and adjusted the height of the Test Level of about 4 inches of Snow. I powered the Snow Blower up again and eased it up to the 4 inch wall of snow. "Whang" again and the Roar of the unloaded Motor. Back inside. Opened up the Machine, Belt had Popped off again. Reset same and reassembled the machine.
Outside again. Aimed it at the same 4 inch thick patch of snow and the Belt came off again. I then went inside and Called you People to see which way we were going, in an attempt to resolve this matter.
A very Pleasant Lady answered my call after an appreciable wait. She talked me off my mountain of frustration and found me a Toro Repair Facility within about 15 blocks of my house.
In the meantime my Son-in-Law and our Grandson (Both over 6 feet) came over and shoveled us out. They were not at all impressed with the entire Snow Blower Project.
I took the Snow Blower over to the Repair Facility and I found that they would be on Holiday until after New Years and that they had a long Line of Repair Jobs lined up.
They asked me for a $100 advance, in the case that the needed Repair was not a Warranty Repair.
Finally on the 21st of January, I decided that I'd better see how the Snow Blower repair was coming along. My wife and I stopped by the Repair shop. The manager of the shop informed me that they had called me just that morning to tell me that the repair had been completed, it had been a Warranty Repair after all. The manager gave me a credit receipt for the $100 advance and loaded the Machine in the back seat of my car, where it fits perfectly. I brought the Machine back to the house and put it on my Side Porch, and waited for some Snow.
Last night we got about 8 inches of the stuff. I got up this morning and ate a good breakfast and took the snow blower out the see what it thought of Washington DC Snow this Morning.
I am pleased to say that it worked perfectly, and I shoveled my Sidewalks and my Driveway in about 3 hours. The Toro chewed up a 6 inch pileup of Slush that the City Snow Plow had left in front of my driveway, in good order with no distress. I have put the machine in the Garage temporarily after brushing it off and getting all the snow and slush brushed out of it.
I am pleased with The Toro and with the Repair Facility, and I feel very Noble and full of Virtue, because I didn't lose my 87 year old temper.

Oops, Watch out for the cord!
It took about an hour of set-up time, because the handle was too tight to slip on so the bolt holes would line up.
My wife and I tugged and tugged; and after swearing at you guys it finally snapped into place. I turned it on and said "That is a powerful engine".
So we waited for some snow which happened today (6 inches here in Harpers Ferry,West Virginia).
I did a run around the driveway and was headed around again when it stopped on me. I hit the start handle again and it felt like something was stuck in it. It sure was- I had run over the electrical cord.
My wife was in the garage and I yelled at her to unplug it. I got the cord unstuck but it had already gone thru the wires of the cord. So I finished the driveway with a shovel.
The next time around, I will make sure the cord is behind me, not beside me. I was glad there was no shock when I ran over the cord. It looks like this is going to be a good machine once it's operator gets on the ball.

The Toro has been very handy, I have used it several times on snows from 4 inches to 12 inches clearing 3 driveways, two sidewalks, and a flat roof.
I like the light weight so I can easily carry it around. The cords can be a problem but I have figured out how to lay the cords out so they are not in the way.

Snow blower needs two people to put together
This snow blower needs two people to put it together. This should be mentioned in the ad and marketing. Also, Snow Blowers Direct gave no help about attaching the top tubing into the bottom tubing.
You need two people because the bottom part must be compressed together at the same time pushing the top part into the bottom part. If you live alone, you hate to impose on your neighbors to help put this together. My neighbors said they thought it was awful how difficult it was putting the top part over the bottom tubing.
Also, Toro said they were going to send better pictures showing this and they forgot to send the pictures showing this process. Toro finally sent the pictures that they promised they were going to send me after contacting them 3 times.

I ordered the blower and it arrived on time with a minimal amount of time spent to put the unit together.
I used it on a 2'- plus snow fall and it worked great. It's easy to control and handled the load well for a relatively small unit.
I would recommend to anyone looking for a small snowblower that is easy to use.

Right year to buy the right snowblower
With two feet of snow in December and early January (unusual for the Kansas City area), this was the right year to finally buy a snowblower.
And, I'm very happy with my new Toro. While my neighbors were still shoveling, I was warm and toasty back inside after a half hour.
This little baby chewed through even the two foot or more drifts. A new gas powered model might have been easier to handle this year without the power cord of this electric, but I reminded myself what it might be like next year after the gas model had been sitting idle for almost a year.

My Very Sad, Disapointed Story
My Toro was not able to handle the 'heavy' quality of snow we have her in MA near the ocean. I got 15 minutes of use and it burned out. Just up and died! Not a scratch. Looked pristine.
After a long conversation with Toro, they said I could package it up and mail it to them for a replacement (yuh, right!) or get it in my little car and take it to a local Toro dealer to have it fixed (again, yuh right!)
I put it out on the side of the road for the trash man. No one even bothered to steal it!! Obviously they were smarter than me. But there was no way I was going to spend one more penny on such a piece of absolute junk.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It was difficult to lose that amount of money- a sad lesson.
I take no fault with your company, but you might consider telling people who are interested in that machine to only purchase that snowblower if they have light snow.

I love my toro snowblower
I love my snow blower. I got it in December and it sure has worked well for me.
I went away for three days and when I got back it was a lot more work getting the snow removed. We got 6 inches and there was ice under the snow so it was hard pushing.

Powerful motor for weight and size
I ordered the Toro 1800. It was delivered in two days, and the delivery man walked up the hill with the box.
I assembled it immediately, and took it out for a spin. Although the instruction manual states not to use it on gravel, all one has to do is lift it a bit (easy, because it is light) and it removes the majority of the snow.
My only complaint is the 3-1/2 inch hard plastic wheels only move straight, and makes it very difficult to maneuver on uneven spaces.
It's a great little machine for the price, but I think such a handy machine needs a better set of wheels to make it truly functional for the average homeowner.
Larger sturdy wheels preferably, but not necessarily on a rotating axle bar, which would make this machine invaluable for homeowners who hate to shovel city sidewalks in front of their home as well as suburban homeowners and rural folks who need to dig out to the road.

This machine rocks!
I am a 48 year old female and I was sick of shoveling. I bought this machine and now I have a really black and blue butt from kicking myself everytime I use it. Why? Because I should have bought this 10 years ago when I moved to the mountains. All that shoveling and getting so sore and tired out from it- what a waste of time and energy!
This little machine arrived on my doorstep in a few days and was assembled in 15 minutes- it had all of 4 bolts. I plugged her in and away we went. The second day I used it, I tried it on the berm and it really did a good job of that too.
I made sure the berm was not solid ice first. I also kinda bumped the berm with the machine without it being on. I broke the berm up a little bit before squeezing the trigger and letting it chew and spit it out. The berm was gone in minutes. I really was apprehensive about trying it on that, but other reviews I have read online made me want to try it. I didn't really think it would do it, but it worked just fine.
I got 14" of snow yesterday and it was taller than the thrower. I made a couple passes since it is really not designed for that depth of snow. After a couple passes it did the job just fine. Once I had a path established I just took smaller bites off the 14" sides and didn't have to make several passes due to the depth. It sort of knocked it down and just spit it out. I was just patient with it.
This machine is excellent for young and old. No gas, no fumes, no mess. I store it inside my home in a closet. Frankly the cord is not a problem for me. My driveway is is not more than 30' from my front door and 30' long so I use a 100' cord and I can actually get out into the street and make sure my car can make it out just fine.
I love this thing. It is not self-propelled so you do have to push / slide it, but it is very mobile and not hard to do.
Yesterday I did the front of my house, a path to the big woodpile, and my driveway; all in about 40-45 minutes. That was a 14" layer of snow too. (Well over the recommended maximum) Once I got the bulk gone I would go out and do the same thing with about 4-6" of new snow and could clean it all up in about 10-15 minutes.
It is simply wonderful. If I was shoveling, it would have taken me a 2-3 hours and would have meant no path to the woodpile nor the front of my house to broom off my satellite dish.
This thing does it all.

Toro 1800 Power CurveŽ Electric (18") 15-Amp Snow Blower Review
If you are looking for a Snow Blower that is easy to use and lightweight, this is the one for you.
We purchased this when we found out my husband had to be out of town for 3 months. I wanted something that would clear the drive easy and quickly.
I could have shoveled the drive- it's not a problem for me, however with small children, I knew I could not be outside for hours on end.
I am VERY HAPPY about this purchase. Also, we received the Snow Blower in 1 day after ordering--we do not live far from Boilingbrook, IL.
