Q: Bob: Can the 621QZE handle 12 inches or more of snow, or what is the maximum height of snow it can handle?
by Barry Knopf from Virginia on February 13, 2014

A: Barry - it really depends on the "type" of snow you're asking about. The Toro 621 series snow blowers will handle a foot of light, fluffy snow. But if it's wet. heavy snow, then 5 or 6 inches is probably the max that the 621 will handle.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: What is the difference between 38459 and 38458?
by Victor from New York on January 17, 2014

A: Victor - these two models are the exact same snow blower - except that the 38458 has a recoil (rope pull) starter only, while the 38459 has both an electric start option as well as the recoil (rope pull) starter.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: Bob, what has to be assembled when the 621QZE snow blower arrives?
by Tony from Connecticut on December 15, 2013

A: Tony - the Toro 38459 is mostly assembled. You would need to fold up and tighten the handle into the proper position, and attach the discharge chute to the housing. That's really about all that needs to be done on this model.

Q: Kriss, I live in Kansas, not a lot of snow but when we get 8 to 10" of wet snow I would like to get a snow blower that will handle this, we have a drive way about 5 car wide and 4 to 5 long, along with a corner lot with side walks on 2 side. I am looking at a 2 stage blower but not sure I want the weight and the space it takes to store this type of machine. I seen the model toro 38459 and wondered if this machine would do the job for us. I have shoveled for the past 30 years but when it comes to a 10" wet snow it is very difficult. Let me know what your recommendation is.

Thanks

Dave

by Dave from Kansas on January 02, 2012

A: My suggestion would be a single stage snow blower. With the snow you guys get a two stage could serve as more difficult, especially when you get those lighter snows. The reason for this is because on a lighter snow it is harder for the snow to get through the auger and to the impeller because the really does not touch the auger and is more or less gathered.

A single stage snow blower would pick the snow up from the surface, so whether you have 3" or 8", you won't have an issue. It can take you longer when you have snow that is more than 6", but it still beats the heck out of shoveling. The only issue you could see if with heavy wet snow, it is the enemy of every snow blower, no matter it be single stage or two stage, so throwing distance can be down. Again though this is still better than shoveling!

The Toro 38459 would serve you well for the purpose you have and should utimately save you time as well.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: Does it use regular gas or gas & oil mix.
by Anonymous on December 08, 2011

A: This is going to be a 4 cycle engine, meaning the gas and oil is separate. So there would be no mixing of gas and oil.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: CAN THE TORO 621 QZE MODEL38459
FIT IN THE BACK OF A SUV LIKE THE HONDA
PILOT OR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE?

by Anonymous from New York on August 15, 2011

A: If you fold down the upper handle, any of the Toro single stage snow blowers will fit in the back of an SUV. The upper handle is easily folder down by simply loosening a knob on either side of the handle.

There’s not much to say about the Toro 38459 except to say it has all the same performance characteristics and features as the Toro 38588, but with the added convenience of an electric start feature. Just plug it in, push the start button and you’ll be off and running.

The Toro 38459 handles medium to heavy snow falls, and even heavy, wet snow of 3 or 4 inches can be cleared pretty easily with this machine. The Toro 163cc 4-cycle OHV valve engine will clear up to 1,800 lbs. of now per... more

Toro 621qze Clears Small And Large Amounts Of Snow
I purchased this snow blower to replace a two-stage snow blower I had for 8 years. I was use to a a power machine that could clear snow quickly. I wanted something smaller, but still had the snow clearing capability of my larger machine. This Toro model does great. I've used it extensively this winter. I'd buy it again without hesitation.
Pros: Features, Easy To Use, Reliable, Easy To Store

Not Working Out Of The Box
I followed the directions and put in the oil (then waited 5 minutes) and gas and then tried to start the machine using the electric starter. I heard some sort of noise but the engine wouldn't engage. I tried 2 more times and the same thing happened and after that there was no response at all. I tried the manual pull cord and the same thing happened- some sort of noise, but the engine wouldn't catch. I took it to a local Toro dealer and a few days later was called back saying that at Toro's... more

Works Like A Champ
Purchase this Toro 621 QZE right after our last snow storm on 01/03/14. Our old Toro, a 2 Stroke engine with 13 years of use, had no power, kept conking out. Had invested $250 last year getting it serviced, figured that's enough. This 4 stroke Toro works like a champ. Snow Blowers Direct shipped on the day I ordered, arrived 3 days later here on Long Island. Simple assembly of the chute which was done in the living room, no garage here, and too cold in the shed. Next warm day, added the... more

Duluth Mn Blizzard December 2013
I have always trusted Toro products. I purchased my first snow thrower a decade ago, when my wife and I moved to Duluth, MN. Aside from the electric starter going out, that two cycle workhorse was still going strong last year when it was donated to a needy cause.
We unpacked the 621QZE the night before this recent storm hit. I was up early and cleared our entire block. Over the next three nights, my wife, kids and I cleared our neighborhood over and over again. Most recently, the... more

Love My 621qze
I was in the market for my first snow blower and I thought getting a two stage thrower was what I needed. However, after considering the size of my driveway (I live in the city) and speaking with co-workers I decided on Toro brand single stage throwers. I had six co-workers recommend Toro and the 621 series throwers. After hearing their stories I was sold. I've never been happier since. I've used it almost ten times already and each time I'm glad I got it. When I got it setup was easy, it... more

Toro Powerclear 621 Qze
Shipping was 2nd day after order placed. Instructions easy to follow. Easy to setup. Used recoil for first start. Plastic handle came loose from recoil rope, rope disappeared in recoil mechanism. started it with electric, started right up. Used it to clear two inches of powdery snow, more machine than I needed for this plow, Zip and Quick chute attachment, works great and easy to use. Runs quiet while using, machine is a little heavy but cleans snow right down to cement and throws it a long... more

Operation
The Toro I just purchased from you works just as good as my two stage. I bought the Toro to replace my Honda which I have had continuous engine trouble. Also the Honda has to be pushed through the snow unless you lift it up and if you do that you don't even get one season out of the pads. This Toro runs circles around the Honda.

Cons: Expensive

Awsome Performance
All I can say is WOW!!! First used the weekend of 12/14/13 here in St. Louis. Woke up to 8 plus inches of heavy wet snow. Started on 2nd pull. Did not use the electric start. Took about 15-20 minutes to clear my driveway (100 X 30). Cleared area in the street where snow plows already came through and left the snow from the end of their blades. Snow blower performed very well going through this heavy wet snow. My son went out and cleared 7 additional driveways in about 2 hours without... more
