Q: Bob: Can the 621QZE handle 12 inches or more of snow, or what is the maximum height of snow it can handle?
by Barry Knopf from Virginia on February 13, 2014

A: Barry - it really depends on the "type" of snow you're asking about. The Toro 621 series snow blowers will handle a foot of light, fluffy snow. But if it's wet. heavy snow, then 5 or 6 inches is probably the max that the 621 will handle.
by Joe, Product Expert

Q: What is the difference between 38459 and 38458?
by Victor from New York on January 17, 2014

A: Victor - these two models are the exact same snow blower - except that the 38458 has a recoil (rope pull) starter only, while the 38459 has both an electric start option as well as the recoil (rope pull) starter.
by Joe, Product Expert

Q: Bob, what has to be assembled when the 621QZE snow blower arrives?
by Tony from Connecticut on December 15, 2013

A: Tony - the Toro 38459 is mostly assembled. You would need to fold up and tighten the handle into the proper position, and attach the discharge chute to the housing. That's really about all that needs to be done on this model.

Q: Kriss, I live in Kansas, not a lot of snow but when we get 8 to 10" of wet snow I would like to get a snow blower that will handle this, we have a drive way about 5 car wide and 4 to 5 long, along with a corner lot with side walks on 2 side. I am looking at a 2 stage blower but not sure I want the weight and the space it takes to store this type of machine. I seen the model toro 38459 and wondered if this machine would do the job for us. I have shoveled for the past 30 years but when it comes to a 10" wet snow it is very difficult. Let me know what your recommendation is.

Thanks

Dave

by Dave from Kansas on January 02, 2012

A: My suggestion would be a single stage snow blower. With the snow you guys get a two stage could serve as more difficult, especially when you get those lighter snows. The reason for this is because on a lighter snow it is harder for the snow to get through the auger and to the impeller because the really does not touch the auger and is more or less gathered.

A single stage snow blower would pick the snow up from the surface, so whether you have 3" or 8", you won't have an issue. It can take you longer when you have snow that is more than 6", but it still beats the heck out of shoveling. The only issue you could see if with heavy wet snow, it is the enemy of every snow blower, no matter it be single stage or two stage, so throwing distance can be down. Again though this is still better than shoveling!

The Toro 38459 would serve you well for the purpose you have and should utimately save you time as well.

Q: Does it use regular gas or gas & oil mix.
by Anonymous on December 08, 2011

A: This is going to be a 4 cycle engine, meaning the gas and oil is separate. So there would be no mixing of gas and oil.
by Joe, Product Expert

Q: CAN THE TORO 621 QZE MODEL38459
FIT IN THE BACK OF A SUV LIKE THE HONDA
PILOT OR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE?

by Anonymous from New York on August 15, 2011

A: If you fold down the upper handle, any of the Toro single stage snow blowers will fit in the back of an SUV. The upper handle is easily folder down by simply loosening a knob on either side of the handle.

Toro 621qze Clears Small And Large Amounts Of Snow
I purchased this snow blower to replace a two-stage snow blower I had for 8 years. I was use to a a power machine that could clear snow quickly. I wanted something smaller, but still had the snow clearing capability of my larger machine. This Toro model does great. I've used it extensively this winter. I'd buy it again without hesitation.
Pros: Features, Easy To Use, Reliable, Easy To Store

Terry,
Terry,

This can happen and is somewhat normal as the items you pointed out are wear items and need to be replaced. With all the snow we had last year and especially in Ohio, you should have gotten a lot of use from your snow blower. With the paddles and scraper bar making contact with the ground all of the time, the paddles and scraper bar will wear due to them being plastic and rubber.

We do sell the replacement parts for your unit and would be happy to assist you with any questions you may have. I have included the links for each item below.

Works Like A Champ
Purchase this Toro 621 QZE right after our last snow storm on 01/03/14. Our old Toro, a 2 Stroke engine with 13 years of use, had no power, kept conking out. Had invested $250 last year getting it serviced, figured that's enough. This 4 stroke Toro works like a champ. Snow Blowers Direct shipped on the day I ordered, arrived 3 days later here on Long Island. Simple assembly of the chute which was done in the living room, no garage here, and too cold in the shed. Next warm day, added the... more

Beware Of Limitations
I purchased this unit two years ago, but never had occasion to use it until this past winter, and use it I did. Though the unit remained untouched from the time of delivery, when I needed it, it was ready and performed to expectations. The machine runs well and responds easily to maneuvers. It clears powdery snow down to the pavement with no problem, and blows it out of the way. However, wet snow is another story. The machine clogs and barely throws wet snow one foot. In fact, in many... more

Survived Winter Of 2014
In the middle of this terrible 2014 winter our old snow blower finally died. After reading reviews decided to go with the Turbo Power Clear 621QZE. Except for it being a little loud it works very well. Has gone through several inches of snow well, cleans down to ground and does well in wet snow. So far so good!
Pros: Easy To Use, Features, Reliable, Durable

Just About Perfect
I used this blower as soon as I received it and was happy except for one problem. It seems to run a bit rough and back fire while in use and has a rather strong smell of gas. I called SBD as soon as this happened and was advised to call a local shop that honored the warranty as it could not be returned for new. I was a bit disturbed by this. Of course with the winter we've been having the local advised me to wait for the bad weather to pass and use it to see if it worked it's way out since... more

Good Overall Experience
The snow blower came in 2 days. The box was in good condition. The inside of the box could have had more protection for the machine. The machine went together quick and easy. Just unfold the handle, put the oil in, gas it up and your good to go . The oil fill is at a difficult angle. It's better if you have a funnel with a clear flexible hose so you can watch the oil go in and not fill too quick and possibly overflow it. The only con to the whole purchase came to the actual delivery by FedEx.... more

Great Machine!
Ordered snow thrower on a Monday afternoon and machine was delivered following Wednesday afternoon! Assembled very easily. Didn't understand cable adjustment section in instructions for gap of 1/8 th inch. Not possible to do. Machine worked better than I thought it would. No trouble clearing driveway and the snow was thrown at least 35 ft.. Great machine!

So far so good. Only used it once though, but it did the job with about 12 inches of snow on the ground. My husband was pleased. He also did a couple of walkways at my parents house, and my aunts driveway apron, and it did not conk out. I was a little skeptical about buying another Toro because we have a Toro CCR Powerlite, the smallest snow blower Toro made, and it would conk out every time we used it, and it would never start at the beginning of the season. (and yes, we drained the gas out of... more
