Q: Kriss, I live in Kansas, not a lot of snow but when we get 8 to 10" of wet snow I would like to get a snow blower that will handle this, we have a drive way about 5 car wide and 4 to 5 long, along with a corner lot with side walks on 2 side. I am looking at a 2 stage blower but not sure I want the weight and the space it takes to store this type of machine. I seen the model toro 38459 and wondered if this machine would do the job for us. I have shoveled for the past 30 years but when it comes to a 10" wet snow it is very difficult. Let me know what your recommendation is.
Thanks

A: My suggestion would be a single stage snow blower. With the snow you guys get a two stage could serve as more difficult, especially when you get those lighter snows. The reason for this is because on a lighter snow it is harder for the snow to get through the auger and to the impeller because the really does not touch the auger and is more or less gathered.
A single stage snow blower would pick the snow up from the surface, so whether you have 3" or 8", you won't have an issue. It can take you longer when you have snow that is more than 6", but it still beats the heck out of shoveling. The only issue you could see if with heavy wet snow, it is the enemy of every snow blower, no matter it be single stage or two stage, so throwing distance can be down. Again though this is still better than shoveling!
The Toro 38459 would serve you well for the purpose you have and should utimately save you time as well. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: Does it use regular gas or gas & oil mix. by Anonymous on December 08, 2011
A: This is going to be a 4 cycle engine, meaning the gas and oil is separate. So there would be no mixing of gas and oil. by Kriss, Product Expert
Q: CAN THE TORO 621 QZE MODEL38459 FIT IN THE BACK OF A SUV LIKE THE HONDA PILOT OR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE? by Anonymous from New York on August 15, 2011
A: If you fold down the upper handle, any of the Toro single stage snow blowers will fit in the back of an SUV. The upper handle is easily folder down by simply loosening a knob on either side of the handle. by Kriss, Product Expert
There’s not much to say about the Toro 38589 except to say it has all the same performance characteristics and features as the Toro 38588, but with the added convenience of an electric start feature. Just plug it in, push the start button and you’ll be off and running.
The Toro 38589 handles medium to heavy snow falls, and even heavy, wet snow of 3 or 4 inches can be cleared pretty easily with this machine. The Toro 163cc 4-cycle OHV valve engine will clear up to 1,800 lbs. of now per minute, and throw that snow up to 35’, depending on snow conditions. The intake housing is tall enough to handle snow falls of up to one foot.
Designed for longer suburban driveways and long stretches of sidewalk, the Toro 38589 includes the Toro Power Propel System with its innovative pivoting scraper that keeps the rotor in constant contact with the pavement. So snow throwing is quicker and easier. And the Toro Quick Shoot Control System lets you change the chute direction without stopping. Just squeeze the trigger and slide the handle-mounted grip to throw snow exactly where you want it.
The Toro 38589 is top of the line when it comes to single stage snow throwers. The combination of power, performance and innovative features is unmatched in the single stage snow thrower category.

4 trumps 2
I've had a 2 cycle Toro for a number of years, but the noise and fumes made me want to use it only when snow was especially wet or over 8". With age (I'm 62.) I've used it more, but liked it's noise/stink even less. On the other hand it once cleared my 3-car drive of a 3' snowfall. Enter the new 4 cycle. Quiet. Odorless. It hasn't met a 3' snowfall yet, but it threw a wet 6" as well as or better than the 2 cycle did. Bring it on!

Perfect order
After getting the snowblower in the middle of the week on Saturday, Lincoln received the third largest single day snow fall ever! Lincoln received 13" of heavy wet snow and the Toro performed outstanding. Glad to have it and can't wait for the next event!

Snow blower
Everything about the snow blower and the ordering experience could not have gone better. I checked the box for damage when it arrived and found it in good shape. The tracking info was spot on and the delivery was right on time I assembled the chute put oil and gas in and it started and ran perfectly. The only problem I found was when I opened the box there was a piece of plastic tape that was holding some part of the system from moving when I removed the tape I noticed a gouge of about one half inch out the housing cover towards the top. I'm quite sure this happened at the factory because there was no damage to the box or the tape that was covering the housing. I would have been upset except for the fact that the housing is red completely through the mold.
I would suggest better quality control for this should have been caught and a new housing installed before it left the factory.

We loved dealing with Snow Blowers Direct - the snow blower arrived as promised, the assembly was a breeze & best of all .... the Toro Power Clear 621QZE did an amazing job!!
The Quick Shoot was a wonderful addition & the electric start made handling so easy. It was put to the test with 14" of snow in Westchester this past weekend.
We give it five stars as to price & performance & five stars to Snow Blowers Direct.
It was such a smooth transaction from start to finish. Our thanks & appreciation to you.

Unbelievable service
First, the service is the best of any company I have ever experienced, ever. Checked every company on line and brick and mortar stores that I could find. Kept coming back to SBDirect. Boy, am I glad I did. Ordered 11pm Thursday. Friday morning 8am had email alert verifying order. I called SBDirect anyway and was greeted on the second ring by a real person knowledgeable about the TORO 621QZE and said product would ship that very day.
Monday by FEDEX, no less, I became the proud owner of my new TORO 621QZE. What a beast, it looks like it could take on any snowfall here in Wisconsin. This blower has to be seen to appreciate the professional build quality, nothing I've seen comes close. Get yours from SBDirect you won't be disappointed.

Great people
I live in Chicago by the lake so we get lots of snow. When I called in to order they were very nice and great people to deal with. Order can ship the same day and no fuss. They also know their products.
