Q: CAN THE TORO 621 QZE MODEL38459 FIT IN THE BACK OF A SUV LIKE THE HONDA PILOT OR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE? by Anonymous from New York on August 15, 2011
A: If you fold down the upper handle, any of the Toro single stage snow blowers will fit in the back of an SUV. The upper handle is easily folder down by simply loosening a knob on either side of the handle. by Kriss, Product Expert

VG But Be Careful
It's a great snow-blower - used one season. I learned two lessons: 1)make sure to burn off the gas at end of season and 2)the manual says to open the choke all the way to get it to start but I have discovered that it works best if it is closed or in the middle. It does a great job and is fun to use.

SnowBlowers Direct is tops in my book!
I wanted a Toro 2 cycle before they were all gone and replaced with the 4 strokes. So I found Snowblowers Direct to be less that other websites. I ordered it for my birthday in June so I have not tried it yet. However, I am looking forward to the winter and being able to clear the snow without having to lug out the 2 stage I have. I am saving the 2 stage for the 1 percent of storms where you actually NEED a 2 stage. For the other 99 percent of storms I will be using my new Toro!.
Customer service it tops as well. When I received the Toro, the small bottle of 2 cycle oil that ships with it somehow managed to have the cap pop off and spill the oil in the bag that it was in. I informed customer service and Snowblowers Direct sent me a larger bottle of Toro oil for free! You can't beat that!

Heavy Minnesota Snow Season
This was one of the heaviest snow seasons in Minnesota history. We used this blower on the driveway apron and deck. No problems setting up, running, or blowing.

Great Little Snowblower
This is the first review I've ever done for any product. After one full winter with this little gem I couldn't be happier! Best purchase ever!
I live in Ontario, Canada and this winter we had 45% more snow than the historical average. I bought this blower just after Christmas. Boy, am I ever glad I did! What a wonderful product!
This may be the best tool I've ever purchased - and I've purchased a lot of tools!
This blower is easy to handle, turns on a dime, and blows as much snow as much larger models.I have used other (larger) snow blowers and found them to be difficult to handle in small spaces. This thing is simply amazing - easy to handle, light, turns on a dime, and starts on the first or second crank every time (I used the electric start just once when I first got it, just to make sure it worked).
It will blow light snow, heavy snow, wet snow, you name it. It won't blow slush very far - but no blower will. (it's a snow blower, not a water pump!). The heavy stuff at the end of the driveway - gone in minutes.
Our largest snowfall this year was 26" in 24 hours. This baby handled it with no problem. In fact, I had done two driveways (and sidewalks) in less time than it took my neighbor to finish his with his full-size Craftsman blower.
Unless you live in the high Arctic, this is all the blower you'll ever need.

Love my Toro
I LOVE this machine! I bought it after one particularly bad snowstorm in PA... I ordered it on Saturday... it was at my house the following Wednesday.
As my luck goes, we had a bit of a warm spell after the snow blower arrived, but luckily we had another snow storm yesterday... not a biggie... we got about 5 inches... what normally takes me an hour and a half to shovel took 30 minutes to snow blow.
I saved the heavy plowed snow at the end of the driveway for last because I wasn't sure if this machine could handle it without clogging... this thing went through that heavy mushy stuff like it was nothing. I almost cried it was so easy. The electric start is very nice... while there is a pull start, the electric is much easier. This was not the most expensive model nor the least expensive... it's a great deal.

Toro 221QE
I love it....when I ordered the snowblower the gentleman who took my order, I believe his name was Bill was so very helpful and patient. I am sorry I waited so long. Only got to use it once but its only February so perhaps we will get more. Thank you Snow Blowers Direct.

Great Machine!
This little sucker has been a great performer. Love the Quick Shoot feature. Only minor complaint is the smell and smoke from the 2-stroke R-Tek engine but I just found some new, synthetic 2-stroke oil which really has helped to mitigate those concerns. Highly recommended.

Love This Snow Thrower
This is my first snow thrower. I'm 67 years old and until I developed a shoulder problem a couple years ago I was fit enough to shovel the snow we get here in Pennsylvania. Then last year we got more snow than we had in quite a few years but my neighbors were kind enough to clear my snow with their "BIG" snow blowers. I was thankful for it but was surprised at how their blowers were so tough to maneuver...several gears forward, reverse gear and very heavy machines.
Anyhow, I started to feel guilty having them clearing my snow so I decided it was finally time for me to get one of my own. I did a lot of research and decided that for my size driveway and sidewalk the Toro Power Clear 221 QE was what was right for me.
After clearing a couple of small (3-5 inches) dry snowfalls I was sure I made the right decision. Then, yesterday we had a wet 8-10 inch snow fall and am more convinced than ever that this is one great snow thrower. The Toro went through the wet snow with power to spare. Some of the area I cleared was even deeper and more compact where the snow plow had pushed snow up against my driveway entrance.
Sure, I couldn't go directly through it but neither could my neighbors with their "big boys" but the Toro is so light and maneuverable compared to theirs that with a little back and forth action I was able to clear that snow quicker than they did. Those big blowers may be ok for long straight stretches but when it comes to maneuverability the Toro wins hands down. Based on my experience yesterday I have no doubt that this snow thrower can easily handle 10-12 inches or more of powdery snow without breaking a sweat. In addition this Toro will clear snow right down to the bare surface while my neighbor's don't quite do that.
If you have a typical suburban home and property, and you don't typically get a couple feet of snow at a time, this Toro model will make you smile...it did me.
I was a bit concerned about going with a 2 cycle engine because I thought it might not have enough power but the salesman told me that the 2 cycle has more torque than the higher priced model with a 4 cycle engine.

JUST LEARNING
Learning how to use snow thrower and it can be frustrating. I have had problems starting a couple of times even with electric hookup. It does a great job of removing snow, but really vibrates a lot. Wish I could get it to move forward with it's idle when the thrower is not engaged to help get up ramp in my vehicle.

Did the job and more
Got hit with 2ft of snow last week and was too ill to shovel so ordered the 221qe on wednesday before we got more snow last night. As promised it was delivered yesterday - 2 day delivery - impressive.
So went out this morning to clear the fresh stuff and hope the Toro would at least make a dent in the icy remains of last weeks snow. It blew the doors off! Cleared everything! This is a powerful little unit, the 2 stroke engine really works hard for it's weight. No problems firing it up with both the manual pull handle or the electric start. Can't wait for more snow!!!

electric start, only if your arm can pull the cord
We have two of the Toro 38584 electric start models. The trouble is that the starter mounts keep breaking.
We gave one to an 82 year old relative and on the initial use the starter broke. After sitting in the shop for four months it was repaired under warranty. Less than two months later the starter mounts broke again. The local dealer accused the owner of abusing the machine, I reminded him the owner was 82.
When I told him the owner could not get it started, the dealer says, it has a pull rope doesn't it. I reminded him we bought the electric start so he could get it started without help. I did contact Toro customer service with little more than thanks for telling us about your problems.
Customer service recommended that I search for a different dealer to correct our problems. The story on the second Toro 38584 is much the same with a 62 year old owner. Both have broken starters with no hope of the dealer correcting the problems under warranty although this is an ongoing problem. I will not be purchasing any new Toro products anytime soon.

3 SERVICE CALLS IN 2 YEARS
First winter, no problems.
Beginning of second winter, it needed a service call since it would not start - we went 3 weeks without a snow thrower to wait for the repair.
Mid-season of second winter, it was not throwing snow and getting clogged. We took it in again for a service call - it needed new rubber blades and a scraper - $250 in parts plus labor 2-3 week wait without a snow thrower. Parts were not covered and we paid $350.
Third winter - here we are again - it won't start. Holidays are around the corner and again, we will be without this for 2-3 weeks. Plus there are recalls for leaky carburetors and fuel tanks in these models, which could take longer to wait for the part.
We paid almost $800 for this model. Waste of time and money and extra expense to clear our drive since our new snow blower was always in for repair.
I wouldn't recommend this or buy another Toro - they are not what they use to be.

Toro 21" Power Clear Best Ever
All the stores in Youngstown were "sold out" of snow blowers !!! What to do ? I went to SnowBlowersDirect.com and had a snowblower within a couple days!! I needed it with over a foot of the white stuff on the ground.
I must say, the Toro 21" Power Clear that I received from SnowBlowers Direct is the best snowblower that I ever had. This baby can move the snow!!
Thank you Snowblower Direct...you were a life saver (and a back saver as well) !!!

Great -- Great -- Great
I bought the Toro snowblower for my sister (who lives in Kansas) as a Christmas gift. I live in Australia and we don't have snowblowers here.
I had to totally rely in the Internet for all my information. Snow Blowers Direct.com had the most comprehensive information together with video demonstrations. My sister is on her own now and has limited strength, so I needed to find a user-friendly snowblower. Well, I did!!
She is completely satisfied and during the recent snow (which took place on Christmas Day) she said she doesn't know what she would have done without it.
Thank you, Snow Blowers Direct.com for the great website and the great selection of products.

Great snowblower
I love this snowblower. I have gone through 16" of snow with it, and it kept going without backing up.
The quick chute feature on it is really convenient too. I have yet to use it with real wet snow but I am sure it will work much better than my old MTD snow blower.
The only negative thing I can say about it is that it has a real flimsy choke lever. It usually starts up on the first pull though.
It cost more than some brands, but it is well worth the cost in my opinion.
