| CCR2450gts electric start snow thrower model 38516 |
| By Tom Louiselle (South Bend, IN) |
I have had this snow thrower for three years. I have always drained the fuel and added Sta-bil for the summer.
I put fresh gas in it this winter and a new plug- it would not start. I checked the fuel line and it was clear. I called the dealer since it is guaranteed to start for five years. I told him I would bring it in to be repaired, he didn't sound too thrilled.
Needless to say we have had 18 inches of snow this week and I have a heart condition. I HAD TO SHOVEL MY DRIVEWAY. The dealer has had the thrower for ten days now.
If I would have known I would not have it back for a week or two I would have bought an MTD. It probably would have been a lot cheaper.
I thought Toro was the best, but now you have my opinion. I borrowed my neighbors MTD to finish my drive and it worked great. SO MUCH FOR GUARANTEED TO START!!!!!
The repair shop is closed for the holiday, so it didn't help me much. Oh well- live and learn; the more expensive is not always the best. If I buy another one I'll buy a cheap one.
SBD RESPONDS: It sounds like another service center might work better for you. There are at least 5 in the South Bend area.
Just click on Customer Service at the bottom of our web page, then select Service Centers and Toro. It will take you right to the Toro service locator page. |

| How to Properly Store Your Snow Blower |
| By Jon Hoch, Founder (Bolingbrook, IL) |
The best way to ensure your snow blower starts in the winter is to store it properly in the spring.
If you follow these two simple steps, your snow blower will ready when you are next winter.
1. Run the fuel dry
It will be six months or more before you use your snow blower again.
Don’t even waste your time adding fuel stabilizer to your gasoline at the end of the season. Remove all of the fuel from the tank so the carburetor doesn’t gum up.
Take your snow blower outside and run the gas tank dry. Try to start it again just to make sure that all of the fuel is out of the system.
2. Cover It
You spent hundreds of dollars on your snow blower. Why not spend the extra money for a quality cover?
We carry two cover sizes. You simply select the cover based on the width of your auger.
Small covers are designed for all single-stage and smaller two-stage snow blowers with an auger diameter 24-inches or less.
Large covers are built for two-stage snow blower greater than 25-inches wide.
These covers are specifically designed to fit snow blowers. They also are designed to stay on the machine, usually by an elastic cord built into the bottom. These covers will prevent sun damage and dust from harming your machine. |
