  5 Questions
Q: Is it regular gas or mix
by Orlando Vela from Illinois on November 20, 2015

A: Orlando - all of the gas-powered snow blowers we sell have 4-cycle engines. Gas goes in the fuel tank and oil goes in the crankcase - same as in your car. No mixing. You would use regular grade 87 octane gas with no more than a 10% ethanol content.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Does this come with a 120-Volt Electric Start Power Cord?
by Matthew Schwartz from Ohio on November 12, 2015

A: Matthew - no, the electric start power cord is not included with this Simplicity single stage model. We do sell a universal electric start power cord that will work with pretty much any electric start system: electric start cord
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: How difficult is it to assemble the unit?

by Tom from New Jersey on September 20, 2014

A: Tom - assembly on the Simplicity 1696517 is pretty minor. You'll need to attach the discharge chute to the unit by fastening three bolts. And you'll need fold up and attach the handle into place. Other than that, the unit is shipped fully assembled.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: I am interested in either the Simplicity 922EXD or 1222EE. I like that the 1222EE has 250cc Engine, however I have concern as to the reliability of the Electric Chute Rotation as it might be prone to freeze up. Is the 1222EE new this season? Do you also share my concerns?

Thank you.

by Greg Kitchen from Michigan on September 10, 2014

A: Greg - yes, the Simplicity 1222EE is a brand new model just being introduced this year. However, Simplicity has been using this same electric chute rotation control on their 2-stage snow blowers for several years now, and it has proven to be very reliable. Freezing up of this chute rotation control should not be a concern for you.
by Robert, Product Expert

Q: Do you mix oil and fuel with this machine?
by Ken from Wisconsin on September 10, 2014

A: Ken - the Simplicity 1222EE has a 4-cycle engine, so you would not mix oil and gas together. Gas goes in the fuel tank, and oil goes into the crankcase, just like on your car.

Blizzard Of 2016?? No Problem!
I finally got to use this blower for the first time after buying it back in October. It held its own in 20+ inches of snow and kept pace with a lot of 2 stages in my neighborhood. Great, consistent power and great maneuverability. I was able to do the driveway (2 car), walkway, sidewalk and apron with no issues.

This storm was an extreme case for the first use but this thing performed flawlessly. I have already nicknamed it "The Beast". I had some reservations about the electric... more

Good! But..............
I have purchased two other snow blowers in my life for unpredictable heavy Chicago winters. Both from Sears. Both lasted me until they literally feel apart many years after I bought them. With never so much as reg maintance. So I knew what i was looking for this time around. And snowblower direct had a good selection and prices.

Now comes this purchase. Though expensive, worth it for the features. Delivery was quick, but it did come with a dent in the metal in the front from... more

Worst Snow Blower Ever. Second Season Thrower Does Not Work
First Storm of second season
Not only did it take 2 minutes to start on the electric. When I went to use it for the first time the Paddle Assembly does not rotate so it can that throw the snow. What a joke.
Lucky I kept my 15 year old Craftsman and it still runs and still throws snow. Thank God for Craftsman's snow blowers, They actually blow snow more than one season.
Cons: Unreliable, Low Quality, Difficult To Use

Runs Rough. Needs Chocke To Operate. Would Not Start When Matte
I got mine just over a year ago. last season I had to run it at half choke. If i closed the choke fully it would be low in power and would sound bursty. it ran smoother with half choke, but not perfect. I always treat my fuel too.

this season it would not start at all. we got 30" of snow. and i was screwed. Luckily my neighbors helped me out... it was very disappointing. After the snow was gone i tried it one last time and it tried for a split second for the first time all weekend. ... more

First Pull It's Running
4th time is a charm, last year 2013 was full of bad shipping issues and late gifts and a brutal winter. I had 3 blowers shipped 1 was a return because of damage and the other 2 never were delivered because of shipping damage, and I received a full refund!

Now I don't give up easy... So I order new and improved version with the electric chute and saw tooth auger. The blower was delivered in 2 days! The box looked okay not perfect, but No blower damage!

I put in the supplied oil, screwed on... more

Tough Guy
This snow thrower has not clogged even with the wet November snow. It has eaten through the chunks at the end of the drive left by the plows. It starts so easy, I don't even use the electric start.

Great Snowblower
Started up immediately with the electric starter. It's very powerful. There's been no clogging through the snow so far.

I had no issues, even with the compacted snow. It's an excellent machine overall.

Disappointing
We finally had a snowfall in Chicago that warranted using a snow blower. We had just over 20 inches over the course of a day and a half which started out as heavy and wet and later turned into dry and light. I went out a number of times to keep ahead of the snowfall. Sometimes the snow blower started and sometimes it didn't.

I followed the manual's instructions for starting, including the electric start. Electric start worked yesterday. Today it did not. Might have had something to... more

Manufacturer Response
Brand Rep
Stephen,
We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you have had with your unit.
As long as the fuel you are using is fresh (less than 2 weeks old) and the oil level is correct, the engine should start. If it doesn't try to start at all, check to see if you have the proper oil and oil level (as per your owner’s manual). If issues persist next season, please take the unit into an authorized service center to see if there was a manufacturing defect. Follow this link: http://bit.ly/1nK43wl for a service dealer locator.
