For clarity this is a push button start, BUT it is required to be plugged in to an outlet during the initial startup? What size outlet? It is ONLY during the starting correct? Following the start up it can be unplugged, correct?

Answer
Jeremy - you are correct. You plug the starter cord into any standard household outlet. Once the snow blower is started, you unplug the cord from the electric start module before using the snow blower.

Is it regular gas or mix
Orlando Vela

Answer
Orlando - all of the gas-powered snow blowers we sell have 4-cycle engines. Gas goes in the fuel tank and oil goes in the crankcase - same as in your car. No mixing. You would use regular grade 87 octane gas with no more than a 10% ethanol content.

In the specs, it states that the 38742 is self-propelled. However, you just answered Carol's question but talking about the incorrect Toro (38473). So the real question is, "Is the Toro 38742 self-propelled or are the specs false advertisement?" Not trying to be witty, but I'd like the correct answer before purchasing.

Answer
Dianah - the Toro single stage snow blowers, including the model 38742, have what's called a "Power Propel System". This system keeps the auger paddles in constant contact with the pavement, and the auger paddles help pull the snow blower forward when they are engaged. So the wheels are not powered as they would be on a self-propelled lawn mower, but these snow blowers will "pull" themselves along when the auger paddles are engaged and spinning.

Is this Snow Blower "Self-Propelled?
Carol
from New York
October 10, 2014
Answer
Carol - a Toro 38473 is not self-propelled. This model does have an auger assisted drive system. The front auger paddles will help pull the snow blower forward when they are engaged. There would no "assistance" for backing up or going in reverse however.
